WTF OMG lolz h4x (fb)
A tag has been placed on QQ Games requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 08:51, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- I withdrew this speedy but intend to propose it for deletion under notability standards if the case for notability isn't made in the article itself. Please see the talk page. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 09:10, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:QQ logo.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:QQ logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:08, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
To retrieve a copy of the article, you can talk to one of the admins on this list. They should be able to help you.
I did indeed withdraw the speedy, but I also had one up on another related article (QQ Treasure Hunter). The admin who deleted the article appears to have hopped from Treasure Hunter to the QQ Games article in general. If you have any other problems, feel free to leave a message on my talk page. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 08:56, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- My doubts about the article's notability stem from the fact that the only references I could find were directories or sponsored by AOL itself, which don't meet the standards for notability for web content. If you repost the article *with* links to multiple non-trivial third-party references, I would have no problem with it and would defend it against deletion. Are you sure that it wouldn't be better off under the main QQ article, though? – PranksterTurtle (talk) 09:09, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- I will wait for the article to be retrieved for me, and then move to update the links. I don't believe it should be filed under QQ though, partly because the QQ article is a bit of a mess, and partly because it addresses a Chinese service, while QQ Games is an American one targeted toward American users. Lucielle (talk) 09:16, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- Why not add an America --> Games subsection to QQ? I'm pretty sure that's where I'd be looking for information about QQ Games. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 09:45, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'd agree with you, except for most users of QQ Games have no idea what QQ is. I didn't till I started writing the article. They more associate it with AIM. I don't think it mentions the parent service of QQ anyone on the QQ games site, so it looks like they're just trying to make a clean break. Lucielle (talk) 06:29, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Carstache
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Carstache, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
