Svwp Suggestion
Hi, I'm a little bit interested in the project you tried to implement on svwp some month ago with translations. Sometimes I'm working away from home and might have more time to write. Maybe help moving the text into Swedish articles, so they fit in and have good sources, could be a good project for me. As you can see on my Swedish page I got the "cure award" some years ago, writing about medicin, so I have some background knowledge. I also wrote this on your discussion on svwp. Best regards, Adville (talk) 22:24, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for you support Adville. Our current focus for the medical Translation Task Force is the 23 vaccines considered essential by the WHO see here. Many of these articles do not yet exist in svwp. Perhaps you'd like to use the Content Translation tool (less than 400 users in svwp right now?) and create some articles. It'll automate the existing references and then you can supplement or replace with Swedish sources. CFCF is very good with medical translation work and could support/join the effort. --Lucas559 (talk) 15:59, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- Our Translation Task Force tries to track the number of translations. So, send me a note when you complete one. Our philosophy is to do the lead of an existing article (typically English vetted by user:Doc James) and then let local communities add to it from there. That means working on approximately 700 word translations. --Lucas559 (talk) 15:59, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- I have now unblocked you on svwp. I am an admin there... Soon Iwill look more into this project, and then we hopefully will be able to cooperate. Best regards Adville (talk) 21:50, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks Adville. By the way, our current focus is the 23 vaccines considered essential medicine by the WHO. It looks like many articles are non-existent in svwp. Content Translation tool could be used to translate the leads of those articles (first 4 paragraphs).--Lucas559 (talk) 21:40, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
- I know I'm right now an very slow on wiki, sorry for that. (A lot of work at different hospitals and labs right now...) I want to ad the pneumonia movie in the Swedish article. However my guess is that there will be some protests if there are not Swedish subs. Therefor I wonder how to ad that. (I know I have to learn, but hopefully I will have time when having sleepovers in hotels. Best regards, Adville (talk) 19:42, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
- Adville, there are already Swedish subtitles. It is good to go. Users need to know Swedish subtitles exist and pick that option from the CC button once the video starts. You do not need to do anything except show your support by uploading the video and writing a Swedish introductory caption to accompany the video. Thanks. --2001:569:F867:EE00:A492:2D05:7259:3DA5 (talk) 04:07, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. Didn't know that (that's why it took so long time to do it). I have now added it. Adville (talk) 08:03, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

WHO
WHO simply says "
Up to 50% of severely affected persons without treatment will die from yellow fever." http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs100/en/
They do not break it does by phase. Will see if I can find what they base this on. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 00:47, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

Italian Vaccines Translation
Hi User:Lucas559,
I am Daimyo2, and you contacted my on my talk page to ask me about translating the vaccination pages in Italian. You asked me to notify you as soon as I translated some medical content, so here I am.
I just finished translating the Rubella Vaccine page, as you can find here. I'll keep updating you as soon as I'm finished with the other pages.
All best, Daimyo2 (talk) 11:18, 15 April 2016 (UTC)Daimyo2
- Daimyo2, that is fantastic! Thanks, I will update our project tracking spreadsheet. To get even more eyes on your contributions, remember to visit the disease article and insure that it links to the related vaccine article. I made one link change, but there could be more done like "Further Information: Rubella Vaccine" or "Main Article: Rubella Vaccine" and put that as the first line after the section heading Prevention. Keep up the great work. --Lucas559 (talk) 15:19, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Lucas559, I just translated a new page: the Typhoid vaccine. You can find the Italian version here. I've also modified the disease page to add a brief sentence about the vaccine, including a proper link. I'll keep you updated as soon as I translate new pages. -- Daimyo2 (talk) 10:55, 16 April 2016 (UTC)Daimyo2
- Hi Lucas559, I just translated a new page: the Tick-borne encephalitis vaccine. You can find the Italian version here. Again, I've added a proper link on the corresponding disease page. I will keep updating you as long as I translate new pages. -- Daimyo2 (talk) 14:52, 26 April 2016 (UTC)Daimyo2
Great work Daimyo2! Let's create a running list of your contributions (I'll be notified when you add to my talk page):

Need help with archive
Hi Lucas, Can you do me a favour and archive the User:EranBot/Copyright/rc page? I am on vacation in the B.C. interior and don't have the capacity to do such a big cut and paste right now. Thanks, — Ninja Diannaa (Talk) 05:39, 21 June 2016 (UTC)
- Ninja Diannaa my connection is also struggling, but I will get this done. Enjoy BC. DONE--Lucas559 (talk) 07:41, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
Dates etc.
Much of this standard data I can assist in some way with translations. For example I translated all the English dates on the Swahili Wikipedia. Please feel free to chat with me, here or during Wikimania about this.
All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 12:53, 26 June 2016 (UTC).
- Thanks Rich, we can always use help with these details that help translations "stick" in target languages. For our next batch I might see if you can help.Lucas559 (talk) 17:29, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Vaccines in Greek
Hi Lucas! Sorry it took me a month to get back to you, I've been very busy (too busy would better describe it). Had a look at the first one on the list - Measles - the translation seems OK. I will try to continue looking at the rest of the vaccines and find ways to get people working on the articles in the lists as I'm afraid I'm way over my head in problems right now to contribute more actively... thanks:)--Saintfevrier (talk) 16:27, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Saintfevrier: thanks for looking at the vaccine article, one is better than none. There were only two translators involved, so after checking 5-6 vaccines it should be clear if there are any re-occurring problems to fix. We are just starting our women's health initiative. An even bigger help would be to get any Greek speakers to contact me here on my talk page or email me and I can provide direction.--Lucas559 (talk) 22:26, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Bubonic plague -> طاعون خیارکی
--Florence (talk) 08:17, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- @AFlorence: excellent! For Zika Fever be sure to check the article (if it exists) on the Zika Virus. On en.wiki, we usually split the disease/medical topic from the virus/vector see here, but many wikis include both in the same article. You can decide how to link or combine the zika fever and zika virus articles. Thanks for keeping me posted, I'll update our project tracking spreadsheet. Smiles, --Lucas559 (talk) 16:12, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
Med articles in SQ?
Hi, I was told at Wikimania to contact you to get 300 WP:MED articles into Albanian? I heard there are doctor volunteers who can do that? Seemed fat-fatched, but let me know if you can help. Thanks! --Arianit (talk) 18:42, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- Arianit, we can certainly try! In Oriya, we managed to get +340 medical summaries. It all depends if we can find good/great volunteer translators. Support from Wikipedians uploading the translations is always needed. Can you help with both translations and uploading? We should start with a sub-group of medical topics. Currently we are focused on 50 women's health articles, but can tailor the project to your perceived needs in Albanian.--Lucas559 (talk) 07:53, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Lucas559 I can help translating in Albanian Language. --Liridon (talk) 18:47, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Arianit I am away for a week or two, we will start this partnership/project then.--62.2.213.98 (talk) 11:00, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Arianit and Liridon: I'm back now. Here is a list of the women's health topics we are focused on. The 40 in the first column are the starting point. We should try to add a few more volunteers to the team, do you know other friends who could help? I'll put out a call for help on our Facebook page. I recommend using the Content Translation tool (how-to video). Please keep me posted as you do translations so we can record the project's success and coordinate volunteer efforts. Excited to see these 40 women's health articles in Albanian!--Lucas559 (talk) 16:32, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Arianit and Liridon: I have requested translations of cervical cancer and ovarian cancer through Translators Without Borders. So, please do not work on those articles. I'll see if I can recruit more help from TWB.--Lucas559 (talk) 17:11, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Arianit and Liridon: Can you please quickly review the new ovarian cancer article, thanks.
- @Lucas559: Hi, doing a workshop with Girls Coding Kosova tomorrow and then they'll be translating the list you provided on woman's health. Is that document just for us so we can make notes? Can you verify the list once again and make sure articles are only related to women and children (pit toilet seems out of place, I could be wrong)? Thanks! --Arianit (talk) 14:03, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@Arianit: Fabulous! This list is our current focus. Items like "burns" and "pit toilet" are on the list because they are significant health concerns. Women get burnt a lot when cooking with fire and women tend to be the ones managing household sanitation. Please keep me posted on your successes so I can track our progress.--Lucas559 (talk) 15:04, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Lucas559: Alrighty then. Let's see what we can do. --Arianit (talk) 13:43, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Arianit: we have two articles done with the help of Translators Without Borders: ovarian cancer and cervical cancer. You can show these as examples.
Thanks for your thumbs-up

Re: Medical Translation Task Force
Thanks for greeting me on my talk page! I discovered the translation project by my self when I was reviewing medicine-related articles on Wikipedia. Fortunately since the initial of this year, few volunteers has joined the WikiProject Medicine in Chinese Wikipedia and started to translate and maintenance articles. I appreciate and will try to invite them. It's happy to receive a work list from you, but unfortunately, next month is my exam month which will end at the end of the Nov., so I may unable to contribute during that period. I'm sorry about that. But after the exam I'll restart all editing works and try to finish the work list. :)

Just joined WP:RTT from viwiki
I have recently joined Translation Task Force. Previously I have translated a few medical articles from English to Vietnamese: Bronchitis, Scarlet fever, Fetus, Organ transplantation, Childbirth by using Content Translation. Can I continue to translate using CX or need to use TWB? Tuanminh01 (talk) 06:13, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Tuanminh01: great to hear from you. Thanks again for those previously translated articles. Using CX is prefered. But if you want credit on TWB, I will gladly submit duplicate/dummy work orders on TWB that you simply mark as "complete." We are currently focused on these women's health topics; can you please help and translate some of those summaries. Thanks for improving the breastfeeding article. That volunteer is new to CX and both her and I will appreciate having you review articles. Thanks for being involved. KEEP ME POSTED with translations so I can track our project's successes.--Lucas559 (talk) 15:25, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. Great to see that I can continue using CX, so credits for TWB are not needed. I will try to translate summary of the 40 articles you mentioned. For your records, I have CX-translated the summary of methadone into Vietnamese, and re-translate manually the summary of female genital mutilation, from English wikipedia articles. The Vietnamese translation of breastfeeding of your volunteer is very good, I don't have to change any words. Regards, Tuanminh01 (talk) 04:50, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
- Summary translated to Vietnamese: Vaginal yeast infection, Bacterial vaginosis and Candidiasis. Tuanminh01 (talk) 13:41, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Tuanminh01: great work. Thanks for the updates; our project's tracking spreadsheet has been updated.--Lucas559 (talk) 18:38, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Summary translated to Vietnamese: Eclampsia, Dysmenorrhea, HPV vaccines, Ectopic pregnancy, Miscarriage, Obstructed labour, Endometriosis. Tuanminh01 (talk) 10:57, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Tuanminh01: more great work. Thanks for the updates; our project's tracking spreadsheet has been updated. I notice some pages do not have many interwiki links, e.g., HPV Vaccine could/should link to the vi.wiki articles on cervix and cervical cancer (if those exists). Maybe visit some related pages and add links to your great translations. --Lucas559 (talk) 05:03, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
I see that these pages are written by Vietnamese, not translated, so the content and links may not reflect the English one. Cheers, Tuanminh01 (talk) 12:14, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
