[edit]Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Pink Floyd. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Contact me if you need assistance adding references. Thank you. haz (talk) 10:10, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hello Lpavleti, congratulations on getting an account. I presume you are the person who has been making this same change to the article several times in the past. I also presume you have seen this number quoted somewhere, and are making this change in good faith.
- However, since you are not saying where you got this number, which is to say your edit lacks a proper citation, there is no way for us to know for sure if the change might not be vandalism. There are instances where someone changes a number randomly to see if anyone will notice, and if they can get away with it. I don't believe you are making this change for that reason, because you have made the same change several times to a popular article with many people watching it, which vandals would not do, because they quickly find out they can't get away with it.
- As has been pointed out on the "edit summary" - the messages we add when we make edits, and which shows up in the aricle's history page, which you can see by going to the Pink Floyd page and clicking the "history" tab at the top - there are already citations (or references) in the article, and they give the number that you are removing. For your changes to be accepted, we need to resolve the problem that there is more than one statistic for the same thing out there, and figure out which is correct. And we can't do that when we don't even know where one of those numbers comes from.
- The first thing you need to do, is tell us where you are finding this number. Do NOT edit the article, but DO tell us on this page, which I will watch, and respond to. You can also explain where this number comes from on the article's talk page if you prefer.
- Hoping you are willing to take the time to do this. Please don't take our actions in reverting your changes to be hostile. We welcome all editors and their contributions. We just need to make sure changes are done right, and I want to help you accomplish this.
- One more thing, in case you didn't know... any words or phrases you see in blue are "Wikilinks": links to other pages with more information about the word. --A Knight Who Says Ni (talk) 12:56, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
