Subpages
[edit]- Hi there! May I ask what you intend to do with all your subpages? Do you plan to rewrite them into articles for Wikipedia? --HappyCamper 01:33, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
- Yes,I think so. But where is the answer of Jimmy Wales?
- Probably,I think, the true problem of Wikipedia is revert-deletions or page-deletions forced by adminstrators without enough conversation or clear explanation.
- I think the resolution of above issues is that:Wikipedia should set the short term(for examples 3 months) to all the admins and Every 3 Months Wikipedia should have all-admin-election. Please tell Jimmy Wales this resolution if you can understand.
- Where is the answer by Jimmy Wales to my request November 13 ? Where is my request to Jimmy Wales November 13 ? These are the true prime cause of Wikipedia's problem. I mean revert-deletions,page-deletions and blocks to contributors get the situation of Wikipedia worse and worse and worse. Do you think it is natural consequence? --LoveandPeace 08:21, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- Personally, I think no system is perfect - and of course, this includes Wikipedia. I think everyone honestly tries to do their best here. Did something specific happen to you which motivated you to write all this? I'm sorry if you feel you have not been properly heard. I don't know enough about this to help you, but it may be better to start a conversation on this at WP:RFA if you are really motivated.
- I guess you could say that an administrator is supposed to work on Wikipedia based on best practices - and of course, sometimes these best practises may not be applied uniformly. As a consequence of equity and equality being in contention, it cannot be expected to happen - no system in existence can do this as no system is perfect - and especially because Wikipedia is stochastic. Some administrators will operate by the letter, others by the spirit, and others will operate between these two - and do what is perceived to be the best. This diversity is what makes administration on Wikipedia effective - especially so, because no two days on Wikipedia are the same. This project is exposed to a tremendous number of internal and external factors - some that it cannot control, and without diversity, much of what keeps this project alive will be lost.
- In all fairness, I must tell you that I supect you are related to this user, and although I cannot read the Japanese, I can pick out some of the Kanji and know that there were certain things that upset you. Perhaps it is possible you were banned based on a decision that was something you feel was not applied properly or uniformly to you, and that you were centered out. When this happens, of course, we would feel hurt - regardless of whether one is right or wrong.
- I doubt there would be any institutional changes regarding re-confirmation of administrators in the short term. Personally, I doubt that is the best way to go for anyone - it would be tremendously draining, and it would involve too much "WikiPolitics". Sometimes, it is better to distance oneself from all this, so I would like to extend an offer to you to take your mind off all this:
- May I invite you to write articles with me instead? I am trying to write kusudama, origami and modular origami, and there is a tremendous amount of wonderful literature on these topics in Japanese that I cannot read. Maybe editing on these articles will help distance yourself from the administration here, and would help make this a more happy and fun place for you. After all, isn't that what this project is all about? How about that? You don't need to worry about your English - I can help correct errors, and maybe you would learn a bit of English as well - and who knows? Maybe I can learn Japanese from you too. Would you consider this, and get back to me? It would be most wonderful to collaborate, I think - and I'm sure you would enjoy this very much. It would be like a nice welcome for you to English Wikipedia! :-)
- Sincerely yours, HappyCamper 16:15, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
