Vermont

Thank you for your contributions to Vermont. I am going to move all taxes to government as per the Wikipolicy Wikipedia:WikiProject_Cities/Guideline#Government. That will place all government stuff under one heading. There are some obscure taxes there. Will try to move the entire text to the separate Government of Vermont if it is not already there and delete the sentences in "Vermont" that seem too obscure to the average reader. "Exceptions to sales tax" seemed uncecessary in this high level article. Another possibility is to put it into "Politics of Vermont." Despite it's apparent title, it mostly refers to statehouse politics and may be more appropriate there. Student7 (talk) 21:17, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I frequently weigh in with articles from the paper. On one hand, it's more thoughtful to have a reference someone can check (if that controversial), on the other hand, online stuff, except for the NY Times and a few others, tends to perish. Supposedly we add dates and no dated citation can be removed even if the link is gone (which was a surprise!). Apparently the citation can still be retrieved from someplace. But still, it's not there when I try to check it.
I am (as you apparently are going to be) a "reputable" editor and try to phrase my remarks as not to rile anyone even though my opinions are probably pretty well known by now. So my citations are almost never challenged except in very controversial articles which Vermont is not (It used to be, in the early days when I was just getting involved. So I feel pretty good about helping to tone down the temperature so that objective edits can be made. Citations are the key, of course. Uncited stuff is often WP:OR or WP:POV)
My specialty (like yours perhaps) is organization.
My defect, which you should be able to tell from the Vermont article (blush) is inserting a lot of items over time and failing to integrate them into a coherent article. Lots of "bullet" items. Cheers! Student7 (talk) 13:26, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
