Tables

[edit]

Hi there, reharding your edits to the F1 driver results tables. These tables have been designed and worked on by a lot of people, and changes made to them are generally discussed before being made. Please do so at the wikiproject here. Thanks. On a more specific note, many of the tables are actually "Complete Formula One results" not simply world championship results - they represent every F1 race entered by that driver, so I shall revert those where necessary. Thanks. Bretonbanquet 14:51, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The other point is, you are adding final WDC positions for drivers who did not score any points during the season. Historically, such drivers have not always been classified in the WDC, this is a recent development. Please take the time to verify the final WDC positions you are giving these drivers, or someone will just revert your changes. Thanks. Bretonbanquet 14:55, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I changed those final WDC positions which are actually shown in the different season overviews (for example Jean Alesi's 22nd place which was set to "-" before). If these tables have been discussed well as well, it should be the right position, shouldn't it? Those that are marked as "-" are NC (not classified), aren't they?

Yes, those final WDC tables weren't discussed, and some of them are very wrong haha, especially the 1950s ones with the Indy500 results included. Also I don't know if "NC" is the correct designation because I have never seen it anywhere in any source. These drivers are not shown as "NC", usually just not included in the WDC standings at all. The second thing: I did NOT change the tables' headlines so that you couldn't see any more that it was from Formula One.

No, that's not what I meant. In these cases, the tables represent that driver's entire F1 results, not just the Championship ones. It is important to differentiate between tables which show ALL F1 results and those from the 1950s and 1960s which only show Championship results. Bretonbanquet 21:41, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there a table called "World Championship results" at Kurt Ahrens's page? I think it's quite confusing to see three seasons not having been a F1 World Championship season for Ahrens who started for F2!

It is a bit strange, that one, because he was not part of the F1 races, but he was part of the Grands Prix, so the tables represent his GP results in his case. Eventually driver articles will show all non-championship results as well :) Bretonbanquet 21:41, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, again. Were these three races really an F1 entry? I changed it in the "List of Formula One drivers" from 4 to 1, tell me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

Hi, yes - they weren't F1 entries, but they were GP entries, and the GP is an F1 race, so it is complex! So long as it is clear that the race was an F1 race, but Ahrens (or whoever) was driving an F2 car, this is OK. It's important to include the information in the table, because otherwise people ask questions! The list of F1 drivers is not my thing, so it's okay with me, but someone else will say if there is a problem. Cheers :) Bretonbanquet 19:19, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lotterstedt. A discussion has started at WP:F1 regarding your recent edits to Template:F1 driver results legend 2. I'd like to invite you to participate in the discussion. DH85868993 13:05, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
