User talk:Lotalota
Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions to Quetico. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The Five Pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
- Merging, redirecting, and renaming pages
- If you're ready for the complete list of Wikipedia documentation, there's also Wikipedia:Topical index.
Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.
Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.
P.S - I like messages. :) -Ravedave 16:01, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'd like to second a welcome to you, Lotalota. I didn't mean to seem accusatory regarding the Quetico fishing typo; I just wanted to let you know I was changing it in case it was less cut & dry than it seemed. I like your user name, you definitely should have a wiki link to Lota lota on your user page! If you're up to it, the Quetico Provincial Park article could use a lot of expanding and it sounds like you know the Quetico. Also, if you weren't already aware, I'd like to draw your attention to the BWCAWiki, the free encyclopedia of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The BWCAWiki isn't affiliated with Wikipedia, but runs on the same software so it should look and act familiar. Cheers, BlueCanoe 04:12, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Changes in Quetico fishing regulations
[edit]This sentence: "In 2007 barbless hooks and artificial bait will be banned from use in the park." is incorrect. The ban will be on barbed hooks and live bait, requiring the use of barbless hooks and artificial lures. This is to reduce injury to fish and prevent the introduction of non-native species, respectively. See the Quetico Fisheries Stewardship Plan (PDF). -- BlueCanoe 17:19, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
