Have a petit four!

Hi! Thanks for voting on the FAC page. But is your computer calendar confused, or is there some wiki bug tripping you up? You seem to be getting timestamps from a couple of days ago. Not a big deal, just thought I'd mention it. Welcome to wikipedia, m'lord! Bishonen | talk 5 July 2005 23:33 (UTC)

No, I live in Australia, that's why. GMT + 10. Oh, and with the 3rd of July thing, those were all typos. I was copy pasting a thing from yesterday and forgot to put it a day in front. :) LordMooCow 4 July 2005, 9:36 (GMT+10)

Oh, I see, cool! Have a petit four to go! Bishonen | talk 5 July 2005 23:53 (UTC)
Yum, thanks for the sweets mate. LordMooCow 20:55, 4 July 2005 (GMT+10)
You're welcome, have a sugar high! Uh, if you sign on talk pages by typing four tildes like this, ~~~~, they will convert automagically to a signature plus a smart timestamp, one that readers all over the world will see in their own time and the format they like. (You can set the prefs for your own account to see them the way you like them, if you aren't doing that already). Bishonen | talk 6 July 2005 11:08 (UTC)
Oh! Sorry.. whoops. Thankyou very much. LordMooCow 6 July 2005 11:13 (UTC)

G'day and welcome to Wikipedia LordMooCow. Being from downunder and all, check out the Aussie notice board and add your name to the list of Australian Wikipedians.

Also check out the The Wikipedia Signpost for all the latest. It is always great to see another Aussie floating around the joint.

K, thanks, all done. LordMooCow 20:55, 4 July 2005 (GMT+10)

Source of Liz Ellis picture...

[edit]

Lord MooCow,

Where did you get the picture of Liz Ellis from? --Robert Merkel 6 July 2005 11:15 (UTC)

Google Image Search. LordMooCow 6 July 2005 11:16 (UTC)

Hmmm. You might want to read the Wikipedia:Image use policy and specifically the section on copyrights. Sorry, but you can't just upload images you find on Google to Wikipedia. --Robert Merkel 7 July 2005 01:30 (UTC)
Another page said you may use Google Image Search, but check for copyright on the images. LordMooCow 7 July 2005 07:17 (UTC)
That's correct. What you may not know is that unless the image's copyright status is compatible with Wikipedia's, either already or through getting permission from the copyright owner, Wikipedia can't use it - and that includes probably 99% of images on the web. The only exception is fair use. --Robert Merkel 7 July 2005 08:12 (UTC)

You said that you "looked at the site which contains the pic, and there was no copyright." Try looking at the site's Terms & Conditions, which are linked at the bottom of every page. dbenbenn | talk 16:09, 15 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

An image that you uploaded, Image:Cat.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Fred_hollows.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --OrphanBot 04:58, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
