Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Lnorrisafls, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was African Light Source, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

- This user seems to be LAWRENCE NORRIS from AfLS foundation FuzzyMagma (talk) 18:13, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
You have recently modified AfLS without providing a reference to what you have changed. The references cited (in the section titled Scrutiny) clearly show that AfLS and ASI are not working together. If you disagree you need to start a talk and show your reliable references (see WP:RS) before proceeding to edit the lead sentence. Also please don’t add or remove content without providing a reference and stop using bare or external links. Maybe it’s better to either suggest your edit on the page talk or familiarise yourself with Wikipedia:Manual of style FuzzyMagma (talk) 18:07, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- "Scrutiny" is an unfortunate word. No one is "scrutinizing" the African Light Source project or Foundation.
- Second, the AAS-ASI barely exists. It has really next to nothing, and what it has done has actually been deleterious to the project. I would rather not add a section on this particular topic, as that is really a minor one compared to everything else going on the AfLS project space.
- I have been a principal in the AfLS project space and organization for many years. I can and will add many references over the next day or so as I am editing this pages. I'll thank your for your patience, and understanding that I know everything that there is to know about the project and organization. Lnorrisafls (talk) 20:23, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Lnorrisafls before editing the page, please first read WP:Conflict of interest. Please refrain from editing the page directly and use the page talk to recommend changes use the format “change THIS to THIS” and include a reason or references that preferably using Wikipedia:Manual of style FuzzyMagma (talk) 21:05, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- Did you write the page as it is now? I am not sure I know who you are, but it is clear you don't know that much about the project.
- Does it matter to Wikipedia to be an authoritative source? Lnorrisafls (talk) 21:52, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- Where is the text that I added? Is it gone forever? Lnorrisafls (talk) 21:53, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- No, check the page history. It is saved as version, see example FuzzyMagma (talk) 22:17, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- I don’t need to know anything about the project beyond what is published in reliable sources. Editing with conflict of interest may get you blocked. FuzzyMagma (talk) 22:19, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- I am here to tell you that you are not relying on a reliable source. AAS, nor its ASI, are reliable sources when it comes to the African Light Source project.
- I can go into more detail, but here is a link that hints at the problem, https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-02991-9 Lnorrisafls (talk) 00:02, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- So am I to understand that Wikipedia allows people that don't know anything about a subject publish a page on the subject. But the people who authoritatively know about said subject cannot correct or edit the page in any way because said people have a conflict of interest? That seems like a perfect prescription to propagate misinformation.
- Even you you cite information from whatever source, it's one thing to find a prior reference. It's another thing to know what it means, its context, and if it is actually accurate reliable information. Lnorrisafls (talk) 00:07, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- You are “Wikipedia people” and welcome to contribute to any part of this project freely (ish), except where you have a COI. However, this is not the place for opinion or original research.
- i have already linked many policies to ease you into understanding how this project ticks, but you still arguing and talking about one page. FuzzyMagma (talk) 00:22, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
