Live1317 Hi, Wikipedia is a collaborative project and articles can be edited by anyone. If there is an issue with vandalism, you can request page protection here. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 16:11, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

July 2017

[edit]

There is no need to remove material from Jose Peralta just because it is also on another page. If someone is running against him because of this issue it is pertinent to this article. Meters (talk) 19:52, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please address the questions below:

I tried to change this same paragraph above as was reverted, by the same person it think. Even though the articles were sourced, I don't think the information improves the page but looks to added for other reasons.

Where does it say this in any of the articles cited? “votes for the Republicans' leadership slate in the state senate”

Where does it the that the reason of the section above results in this “and is rewarded by the Republican party with a stipend, known as a "lulu," worth $12,500 a year, designated by Legislative Law 5-1 for the chairman of the Energy and Telecommunication committee.[1] “ “ As implied by the paragraph?

This entire section violates some wikipedia policies:

"Biographies of living persons ("BLPs") must be written conservatively and with regard for the subject's privacy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid: it is not Wikipedia's job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives; the possibility of harm to living subjects must always be considered when exercising editorial judgment. This policy applies to any living person mentioned in a BLP, whether or not that person is the subject of the article, and to material about living persons in other articles and on other pages, including talk pages.[b] The burden of evidence rests with the editor who adds or restores material. Editors must take particular care when adding information about living persons to any Wikipedia page.[a] Such material requires a high degree of sensitivity, and must adhere strictly to all applicable laws in the United States, to this policy, and to Wikipedia's three core content policies: Neutral point of view (NPOV) Verifiability (V) No original research (NOR)" wikipedia.org —

The information still should improve the page and adhere to the policies established by Wikipedia. Th information does not belong on this page just because its relevant to the article. Whatever this candidate has decided to do or not do as a result of Peralta joining the IDC is relevant to his page. The articles cited serve to support information fits the page and not, not the other way around. Just because you have an article source for what you write, it means what you write is fitting for the page. The whole paragraph where the line removes was placed is in violation of the Wikipedia living persons bio policy.

This looks like a campaign promotion. It is highly unlikely Wikipedia finds it okay to promote someone's campaign (someone who, correct me if i am wrong, is not even on a ballot yet) by allowing his name to be attached to someone who actually holds office.

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Jose Peralta, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. You raised the issue on the article talkpage and you were told that there was no problem with this material and yet you removed it again. Someone is running against him specifically because of the issue in question. That's worth mentioning in the discussion. If you still disagree then raise your specific concerns with this material on the article's talk page and we'll discuss it. Meters (talk) 19:10, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Senator Jose Peralta requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.nysenate.gov/senators/jose-peralta/about. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of :

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on :, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of https://www.nysenate.gov/senators/jose-peralta/about. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Cquinn, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
