Hi - thanks for your kind words(!) The reason for stating that only admins should put unblock requests on hold is not for any reason of power, but purely administrative (hence why we're called admins). If an unblock request is on hold, other admins are less likely to look at it, as they will assume that someone else already is. Also having two unblock requests open at once means more work for us, as it means having to close both of them at the same time. Remember that admins are also human beings, and also volunteers.
