WikiWand

[edit]

Hi Lior. Just thought I'd drop you a line here to acknowledge all the effort you've put into developing the WikiWand interface for Wikipedia which now seems to be gaining wide support and acceptance. While the application is not surprisingly still experiencing some teething problems (for example in the selection of the cover images which appear at the top of many of the articles) the overall presentation and improved readability are certainly great assets for those interested primarily in accessing Wikipedia for information (rather than for editing, etc.). Well done and keep up the good work. Please also let me know whether the WikiWand article on Wikipedia correctly reflects the development. Maybe you and your colleagues would also like to add further images on WikiWand to Wikimedia Commons for use in related articles. You can see what we have at the moment here.--Ipigott (talk) 09:02, 24 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Ian, much appreciated. WikiWand is still in early stages and there's a lot to improve and be wished for. The WikiWand article reflects the development pretty well, I will tweak as necessary. I will upload higher-resolution logo and images to Wikimedia commons, too. --Lior Grossman (talk) 09:58, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Lior, can I advise some slight caution about editing the WikiWand article directly? It's worth reading Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for more details, but as one of the two founders of the product, you could well be seen to have a personal interest in the page. It does look like a cracking interface, btw! Hchc2009 (talk) 13:19, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the heads up and the info! --Lior Grossman (talk) 13:45, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As for the conflict of interest, I think the priority for Wikipedia should be to ensure factual accuracy in our articles. It might however be preferable for you to report any problems here (preferably backed by independent source material) so that we can improve the article. Indeed, what we are missing at the moment are reports from computer journals and, even more important, newspapers and broadcasters. Let us know if anything crops up.--Ipigott (talk) 20:51, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
