[edit]Links
[edit]Please provide original contents rather than spamming links over a large number of pages. We don't need external sources of information if the article is comprehensive enough. JFW | T@lk 22:17, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- It seems you are the creator of those images, or am I wrong? There are several alternatives: (1) Upload other images from your personal collection that are not under the UVA's copyright, (2) convince the UVA's intellectual rights dept that it would be reasonable to release the images in question under the WP:GFDL.
- External links are governed by WP:EL, one of our content guidelines. In general I would advise you against the use of external links for the purpose of promoting an image bank. JFW | T@lk 22:41, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Lindsey, I think it's great you're so committed to supplying Wikipedia with good images! I'm quite happy to help you with this one. Do you have an email address of the intellectual property dept of UVA? I'd be quite pleased to send them an email outlining the need for high-quality images and your willingness to contribute material from your collection not previously published. Do you think that would be helpful?
Wikipedia fulfills a dual role. Apart from educating the general public, it also serves a function for professionals who are a bit exhausted from commercially sponsored educational resources. Obviously, its reliability needs to be much higher for it to become a useful resource for professionals. JFW | T@lk 23:10, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I would also like to applaud your commitment to Wikipedia! Your images would certainly be nice additions to several articles. I think that we can all sympathize with the frustration (but also the ultimate necessity) you may be feeling over Wikipedia's copyright requirements. Here is a nice Essay that might help you understand why Wikipedia doesn't allow non-commercial content. I am sure JFW will assist you to the best of his ability. I wish you luck, and again, thank you for your support and (intended) contributions! If you have any questions feel free to contact me. --DO11.10 23:57, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- If you activate your email I could send you a copy of the email I've sent to the Patents office. JFW | T@lk 06:04, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Stop please
[edit]I believe we corresponded in the past about releasing images under the GFDL. External links to your site are no replacement for images. Please stop adding links. JFW | T@lk 19:12, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
