Your page on the Lindenhurst Memorial Library has been deleted because it looked so much like the Library's official "about us" page that even if you didn't copy-and-paste it directly from a proprietary source, it would have required so much rewriting that it's more efficient to just start from scratch. The page you submitted to Wikipedia looked like it had been copied wholesale from the Library's official website (I didn't check on Google, but it was full of "we" and "us" and other first-person stuff that would be perfectly fine on an organization's official website). I made the conclusion that it most probably was copied.
For copyright reasons, this is not allowed.
A page about the Lindenhurst Memorial Library - sure. We can have that.
A page copied from the LML - no.

Wikipedia Licenses
[edit]So that would mean that they would not only be able to edit our wikipedia page but our official website as well? Im not sure that the library would be comfortable with granting the public that amount of freedom. - ... no, no. The public would be able to edit the information that has been copied from the official website onto Wikipedia. However, if you release the website information under a Wikipedia-compatible license -- which typically involves putting a license release at the bottom ("this page is available under Creative Commons", "this page is available under GFDL", or whatever), then anyone can copy the website information and use it however they want as per the terms of the license. When creating a username I was not aware of the fact that I did not have the freedom to make it whatever I wanted it to be. I created the page about the Lindenhurst Memorial Library and created a login account and username for that sole purpose. Is it neccessary for me to change the username? - Your comments on this talk page refer to "our" website and "our" Wikipedia page, which implies that you represent the Lindenhurst Library in some official capacity. This is not allowed. Wikipedia is created and maintained by individuals, not by entities. You should change your username to reflect contributions by an individual. Any change or choice not to change will not affect the Lindenhurst Memorial Library page. Your contributions to that page will likely be closely scrutinized due to an obvious conflict of interest, but this scrutiny will occur whether or not you change your name, and any copyright violations or overly promotional material will be removed.
