Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Mypicture.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 21:11, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MVL

[edit]

hey I just saw you removing wikilinks over there, just want to tell you that you don't hae to worry about them too much, it's ok to have the same word wikilinked more than onced so long as the occurances are reasonably far from each other and its not overdone. Also theres one thing I'd like you to take a look at: the last paragraph of the Political involvement section, it doesnt have a good flow, can you try to reword it? I'd do it myself but I gotta run, back tomorrow. The article as a whole is very good though and you deserve a lot of credit for it well done :) Acer (talk) 01:52, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations!

[edit]

Well done, Lincolnchan98! You can now, if you want, put the following box on your user page:

You put in an immense amount of work. Congratulations! --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 21:46, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations! You guys are doing a great job! Karanacs (talk) 01:12, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ya, congratulations from me too. No need to thank me really, you guys are doing all the hard work we just help out where we can :) Acer (talk) 10:29, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lincoln, I'm just checking in on behalf of the FA-Team to see how things are going. It's April already! If you guys want to try to meet the April 10th deadline for reaching FA, then the article will need to be nominated by the end of the week. I've left some comments at the article talk page, and then there were SandyGeorgia's comments at the Peer Review. How are you coming with addressing those? If there are specific areas that you'd like assistance with, please let me know. Otherwise, post to the article talk page when you've addressed most of the comments, and then we can set a plan for what else needs to be done. Karanacs (talk) 18:07, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

[edit]
The Literary Barnstar
I award Lincolnchan98 the Literary Barnstar for excellent work in improving Mario Vargas Llosa. Thanks to your effort, the article finally does justice to an important figure in literature. Karanacs (talk) 19:17, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent work! Karanacs (talk) 19:17, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

THANK YOU! That is a totally awesome barnstar and I love it. If you want to play around with the other kind, see WP:BARNSTAR. Karanacs (talk) 18:01, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I was just on Karanacs page asking a question and I saw your really great barnstar. Nice job! NancyHeise (talk) 02:25, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hehehehe thanks so much for that. It was really my pleasure helping you guys out. Also if FA isn't doable by the 10th we will still be here afterwards, so if you want to try to get to FA later we'll still be around to help out :) PS: I moved the barnstar to prime space so that it will still be visible after I archive my talk page. Sandbox

[edit]

Lincolnchan98: I see you've copied over Mario Vargas Llosa to your userpage. In fact the less confusing thing (in case people come across your user page and wonder where they are) is to create what's called a "sandbox" in your user space. Essentially, you can create as many subpages as you want.

So for instance, if you click here you will start a sandbox, in which you can play around with the formatting for Mario Vargas Llosa (or whatever else you want to do, within reason). You can make a link to this page by putting [[/Sandbox]] on your userpage.

(In fact, you can call such pages what you want. So when I wrote something up about this class, I created a page called "Madness" in my own userpage: I put it here, which is [[User:Jbmurray/Madness]].)

On the other hand, people normally do this in the early stages of working on an article, or if (like Acer did) they want to check out a radical revision and see how it looks. You might want to consider still editing the article in "mainspace," so that people like myself and the FA-Team can follow along what you're doing and help out. (Because one of the ideas of a sandbox is you don't get interrupted, but then you also lose out on the possibility of help.) --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 05:37, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh. Now you've undone all of that. But still, now you know. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 05:41, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ya at first I was wanting to play around with different things, but I realized that if anyone made edits to the page, my version wouldn't get them, and it'd be more work to put both versions together. Lincolnchan98 (talk) 05:50, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The access date isnt showing because you didnt fill in the URL field. If you dont it assumes that its not a website and ignores the accessdate field. Hope this helps Acer (talk) 00:20, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ahhhhhh that makes sense. Thanks! :) Lincolnchan98 (talk) 00:35, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hey bud, i got your messege, the reason i havent put page numbers are because on those articles, there havent been any page numbers. i hope thats not a problem...for the ones that have had page numbers, i have added them in. Isabel-clase (talk) 06:17, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed these, I think. Be careful to be accurate with your references, you guys! --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 09:18, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let me know what else I can do

[edit]

Thanks for the barnstar! I think that if we prepare Mario Vargas Llosa well for FAC, we won't have any problems there. After going through FAC twenty times now, I have come to the conclusion that all of the sweating is best done ahead of time. :) Please let me know how I can help you out. Awadewit (talk) 18:51, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well I can't thank you enough for all the work you've put into helping us reshape this article. I agree with you 100% on the trickiness of biographies and how difficult it is to write a comprehensive "Style" section. I have spent every day this past week agonizing over what to do with this article... Relatively speaking, it looks like the rest of the improvements needed are simple. I'll do my best to get these done today, then we'll go from there. Ball-park figure though, how close do you think we are to FAC? Lincolnchan98 (talk) 19:24, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Very close - 90%. But then, as everyone loves to point out, I have very high standards. :) Awadewit (talk) 19:26, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Interview

[edit]

Hi. Over on Wikinews they are conducting an interview about our project. Some of the questions are directed specifically at me, and some specifically at those who edited El Señor Presidente. But there are others for any student in the class. I thought you might want to participate.

You will have to set up a new account on Wikinews. Drop a line to Brianmc who can guide you through the technicalities.

It would be good to have an opportunity for you to have your say! --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 20:43, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wish I had time... Lincolnchan98 (talk) 21:52, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know, I know. I'm aware you're busy! --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 21:55, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(Mostly to Gguy:) The link to our actual interview can be found at our project page. FWIW it's this. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 00:05, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this Jbm. Lincoln, thanks for pinging me: if you answer my quick question at Talk:Mario Vargas Llosa, I'll run through the article for consistency of English variant. Geometry guy 11:51, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :)

[edit]

You know if you keep this up you're going to end up spoiling me... ;). MVLL is coming along very nicely and it'll definetely be in FAC by tomorrow. Its quite an accomplishment, you should be proud Acer (talk) 00:19, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You should go get some sleep, we'll watch over the article for you :) Acer (talk) 11:43, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heya! FAC?

[edit]

Heya. As I recall there was some discussion of perhaps putting Mario Vargas Llosa in for Featured Article Candidacy. Still up for that, eh?

The instructions are at WP:FAC. If you don't do it by 11:45pm tonight, I'll do it for you. But I reckon you should be the one! --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 05:04, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copied over so you'll see it...

[edit]

No probs. I think everything's more or less under control. No worries. Good luck tomorrow! --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 05:49, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aye, revision should cure the wiki-twitch! All the best ;) EyeSerenetalk 17:06, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are new concerns (all small) at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Mario Vargas Llosa that require the attention of someone knowledgeable about the topic. Thanks for your help! Awadewit (talk) 05:47, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks friend! I'll have a crack at it tonight. Lincolnchan98 (talk) 06:13, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations!

[edit]

Congratulations! MVLL has been promoted to FA! (A bot will run soon and close the nomination and add the pretty star :) ) Karanacs (talk) 20:56, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations, Lincolnchan, and I just wanted you to know that, from my perspective, you had a much tougher row to hoe than the other two because your article was a biography of a living person, where we really must get every detail right. Nice job! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:00, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yay!!! And I've come to agree with Sandy that (for this reason among others) your task turned out to be particularly tough. But you really applied yourself to it. And again, I am so impressed by your decision to rejig the whole article between GA and FA. It's all very impressive. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 21:04, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And now with much pride you can put this on your user page:

. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 21:10, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hey I just saw this! Big CONGRATULATIONS!!! from me! The ammount of work you put in there was really quite something and your enthusiasm really touched everybody, it was great working with you :D Acer (talk) 21:13, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely outstanding work. You did an incredible job; congratulations on a top-quality article! Mike Christie (talk) 22:08, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Alderon Logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Alderon Logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:28, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
