Snowball

[edit]

Hey! I was writing that article to be more effective and I wasn't done! why did you revert my artice? and why didn't you even tell me what I did wrong? don't cut people under like that. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Preschooler.at.heart (talk • contribs) 19:45, 5 March 2006.

If you'll notice i moved all the information to an actual disambig page found at Snowball (disambiguation). The preceding unsigned comment was added by Preschooler.at.heart (talk • contribs) 20:01, 5 March 2006.

Thank you

My RFA

[edit]
Thanks for participating in my RfA. It passed with a final tally of 98/13/10, just two short of making WP:100. If you need my help with anything, don't hesitate to ask.

Spoken Wikipedia Project

[edit]

Nice work on the Douglas Adams article -- you have an outstanding voice! I'm just starting work on the Spoken project...downloading Audacity and whatnot. Keep it up! Chadley99 18:45, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great work on the netflix article. Great voice and reading. I can't believe you're 17 years old :)--Nkour 17:01, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Premears?

[edit]

Hello. The reason I created the redirect for Premears is because, first of all, the early Disney Channel Orginal Movies were called premEARS usually around the time they were released (a knock-off of premiere). But mainly, I created it because I found a redirect for premEARS, which is technically PremEARS on Wikipedia. I felt that if someone were to search for premears without the capitalization, they should have this page to direct them. However, you've been here a long time, so if after this you still think it should be deleted, then I support that. Thanks for contacting me. Alex43223 04:12, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No like I said earlier, it doesn't bother me if you leave it up. By the way if you go to premEARS.com it takes you to Disney Channel's home page. It used to go directly to the DCOM page, but it was moved to the main. Just thought I would tell you, thanks again. Alex43223 04:33, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for suggesting it for FL, however theres still one task left before its ready. I worked to get the South Park list up to FL and the last major hurdle is ensuring fair use on all the images, once thats out of the way I'd love to see it get FL. Discordance 07:25, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey sorry for the slow reply been a little busy this week. I'm sure ive said somewhere before the hard part is sourcing the images, and making sure theyre suitable, after that explaining the fair use is pretty simple. At that moment I still think itd be a good idea to get dvd screen captures and replacing everything on the list, its not strictly necessary but I think the end results better. You up for doing that? If you are can you take seasons 1 and 2 and ill do 3. Ive got the region 2 dvds and season 1 and 2 are horribly compressed 7 episodes to a DVD. Discordance 19:18, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

godmode-light questions

[edit]

Thanks for the help on WP:VPT. It works fine now on the diff page thanks to your changes. After seeing what you did to fix the diff page, I noticed a little bit about how the coding works. What I noticed was that by changing the number 1 to a 2, it chose the 2nd link on the diff page after the vandal username. So, I tried putting that to work on fixing a problem that has been plaguing me since I got my rollback, which is that it would never work on any contribution pages. I tried switching a few numbers around, but the most progress I got was changing vandal = a[0].innerHTML; to vandal = a[1].innerHTML;, which changed the vandal from "Talk" to "Block log". Also, changing it to vandal = a.innerHTML; just made the vandal be known as "undefined". Obviously, it's been erroring due to something to do with the linking at the top of a contrib page. I was wondering if you could help me fix this error, because, as you can see from my monobook, I'm hopeless. Thanks. tv316 07:42, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the GML fix - worked like a charm. No Guru 21:33, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, we've never interacted, I don't think, but I read your thinking on automation of the Wikipedia:List_of_non-admins_with_high_edit_counts with interest. This thread may be of interest to you since you have been talking about automation and what would or would not be included. Wikipedia_talk:List_of_non-admins_with_high_edit_counts#Former_Admins Perhaps you could comment on the issues raised about how to tell which users should or should not be on the list... thanks! ++Lar: t/c 20:11, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GDML

[edit]

Thans for the fix, Lighdarkness. I had actually seen this at the village pump (technical) but hadn't implemented it yet. I really like the script, and appreciate Sam's work on it. This bug wasn't really what I was thinking of when I was talking about the problems with GDML. One big problem is that my computer at work is carefully protected from me by someone who doesn't know much about computers, so it's pretty out of date and doesn't even have firefox on it, so the script doesn't work there. Also I've noticed that it can at times make things take much longer to load. Thanks for your hard work, Makemi 22:21, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ARV

[edit]

I saw you report a vandal via your new ARV tool. I would be interested in trying it out, if that's ok with you. It would certainly shave some time off of having to stop reverting to go to the page and type it all up. Thanks. tv316 09:33, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not only do I have the right stuff in my monobook, but I also only use FireFox! Thanks for letting me try it out. I'll let you know how it works out.
By the way, the section editing on your talk page may be a little screwy. When you hover over the edit link for the ARV section, it shows 'ARV' in the yellow box, but takes you to the section for the Esperanza newsletter. The edit link for Godmode lite, takes me to this section to edit. Just thought you should know. tv316 21:01, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I've put that line of code in and hard refreshed a bunch of pages, a bunch of times, and I can't seem to get it to show me the report thing on a talk page. Also, it conflicts with Popups. Would there be a way around the confliction? tv316 21:11, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can I also try ARV out? It looks like a pretty handy tool to have in the everlasting fight against vandals. Thanks. :) Buchanan-Hermit™..CONTRIBS..SPEAK! 09:50, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I stole the code from tv316's page. :D Thanks, this tool is gonna be a real help. Buchanan-Hermit™..CONTRIBS..SPEAK! 16:52, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1

[edit]
Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.
Signed...

CDVF

[edit]

Have you installed Java properly? Get the download from the Sun website (or the Blackdown version) and install it with root privileges. Bear in mind that the Java installer (for whatever reason) doesn't automatically create symbolic links, so you'll need to create one somewhere in your path, by typing (as an example)

ln -s /usr/local/j2re1.4.2/bin/java /usr/bin/java

Then just go to the directory where the CDVF archive is and type:

java -jar vf.jar

Hope this helps! Jamyskis Whisper, Contribs Germany 07:22, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AIV script?

[edit]

I saw your AIV script in action and would love to test it too; my contributions page should be proof enough I'm a vandal fighter with need for such a tool. :) Also note I am quite deft with Javascript, and not afraid to get my hands dirty on the code if needs be. --MJ(|@|C) 16:29, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
