A belated welcome!

The welcome may be belated, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Leonidlednev! I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may still benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Need some ideas of what kind of things need doing? Try the Task Center.

If you don't already know, you should sign your posts on talk pages by using four tildes (~~~~) to insert your username and the date.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Again, welcome! Helen(💬📖) 19:15, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

I don't know what you are trying to do there, but please stop. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 18:00, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

I inserted a template about a vandal when there already was one. Leonidlednev (talk) 18:01, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I am sorry you feel bad about my editing. But I only realized that the info posted was describing a different church from the PCC. People often confuse between the EPC of french regions and the PCC of Anglo-Saxon origin. Max W Nuel (talk) 01:52, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

Double spaces

Although I admire your enthusiasm, please don't edit articles just to turn double spaces into single ones. Double spacing is one valid way to separate paragraphs, and is the norm in some countries such as the UK. Changing the spacing has no effect on the displayed page, and simply clutters the edit history. Wikipedia has many more important errors to be fixed. Thanks, Certes (talk) 14:26, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

Spain national beach soccer team

Hi Leonidlednev, sorry for not explaining. But I removed the Spain logo (that I uploaded personally with another account) because I was informed that Wikipedia detected copyright. Also I edited regarding Beach World Cup: "FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup" and "Beach Soccer Championship (BSWW)". Putting them in different places, not mixing them because they are not the same tournament. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Red1000Yellow (talkcontribs) 18:28, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Andy Serkis

I removed the "Hobbitathon" section from Andy Serkis' Wiki because there was already a bit about Serkis narrating The Hobbit and his Audible recording on the "Other works" section. Hope that helps.

Hi let me repeat what I was saying to StarryNightSky11... I WAS NOT THE ONE DOING THE EDITS!!

TO reiterate, "As I was reading about the Nile river wiki page, I got a message notification. I created a new account just for the sake of replying to the messages; I DID have a wiki account, but that was from a long time ago and I can't even remember the account details except the old account might have been using my gaming email address, or what-not. Anyways, as I clicked on the "User Contributions" tab, it was my first time of knowing how one can edit just with their IP addresses, AND WHATEVER THAT GUY WANTED TO DO WITH THOSE PAGES THROUGH THE USE OF MY IP ADDRESS WAS NOT MINE... the user contributions also stated that this is the first time someone is using my internet address for whatever reason."

goddamn, this is my first time knowing that my IP address has finally been used by other people from the other side of the world... who knows how many things have been affected through the use of my address-- or maybe through the INFO that my address provides...

Slightly terrified atm; anyways, ty also for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hanasei Levinus (talkcontribs) 19:19, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

I hadn't added anything - I was trying to cut all the nonencyclopedic info out of the article. It sounds like someone's web page. shrugs This is why I never, ever, ever, ever, EVER edit. 2603:8001:2A00:7428:DD84:EF43:664B:8F20 (talk) 17:38, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Close paraphrasing tag - Tommy Morrison

Hi. I see you've attached the closeparaphrasing tag on the Tommy Morrison article. I've checked the linked webpage, and at the bottom of their page it says (in Latvian) Avoti: wikipedia.org ("Source: wikipedia.org" when translated to English). This suggests the source of their article is in fact copied from wikipedia, not the opposite being true. Can we remove the paraphrasing tag on this basis? Thanks. Jtsoldier (talk) 19:18, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention; I have added the backwards copy template to the talk page. Leonidlednev (talk) 19:28, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

Sockpuppeting accusation

Just FYI, a user on Talk:Harlan Crow seems to be accusing you of sockpuppeting or meatpuppeting or something, using the fact that two anonymous IPs supported your decision to revert their edit on the page as evidence that someone is trying to interfere with the page or something. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I thought I should let you should know. -MugaSofer (talk) 22:18, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Reporting very old usernames

Hi. There's no much point in reporting very old, never edited Nazi usernames. They are not visible and not doing anything. I will block them but it's a waste of time to go looking for them. Secretlondon (talk) 09:01, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

Hello. Just letting you know that when you reverted a couple of edits on this page, you could have checked back slightly further and reverted the previous three edits which were also a part of the same vandalism. It's ever so often worth checking the previous edits when you revert vandalism, i find. Happy days, ~ LindsayHello 17:28, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

It's MY Talk Page

Please quote me the rule that says I can't remove messages from my own talk page, especially ones that were given out by angry editors that don't actually hold any water... TheNewLayoutReallySucks (talk) 12:06, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Leonidlednev, TheNewLayoutReallySucks is perfectly entitled to blank their own talk page, and you should not undo that blanking. May i point you to WP:NOTWALLOFSHAME which, as it implies, means that previous warnings do not have to be kept on a user's talk. I will also point out, though, TheNewLayout..., that by blanking it you are acknowledging that you've read the warnings. If you haven't looked at it, the whole of that page, found at WP:UP, is full of useful information. Happy days, ~ LindsayHello 15:34, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Invitation to join New pages patrol

Hello Leonidlednev!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Administrator Elections: Call for Candidates

Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Call for candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • October 8–14 - Candidate sign-up (we are here)
  • October 22–24 - Discussion phase
  • October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familar with the community's expectations of adminstrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a one week call for candidates phase, a one week pause to set up SecurePoll, a three-day period of public discussion, followed by 7 days of no public discussion and a private vote using SecurePoll.
  • The outcomes of this process are identical to making requests for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA or administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

To avoid sending too many messages, this will be the last mass message sent about administrator elections. If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

You're receiving this message because you signed up for the mailing list. To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the list.

Administrator Elections: Candidate instructions

Administrator Elections | Instructions for candidates

Thank you for choosing to run in the October 2024 administrator elections. This bulletin contains some important information about the next stages of the election process.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • October 15–21: SecurePoll setup phase
  • October 22–24: Discussion phase
  • October 25–31: SecurePoll voting phase
  • November 1–?: Scrutineering phase

We are currently in the SecurePoll setup phase. Your candidate subpage will remain closed to questions and discussion. However, this is an excellent opportunity for you to recruit nominators (if you want them) and have them place their nomination statements, and a good time for you to answer the standard three questions, if you have not done so already. We recommend you spend the SecurePoll setup phase from October 15–21 getting your candidate page polished and ready for the next phase.

The discussion phase will take place from October 22–24. Your candidate subpage will open to the public and they will be permitted to discuss you and ask you formal questions, in the same style as a request for adminship (RfA). Please make sure you are around on those dates to answer the formal questions in a timely manner.

On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. Anyone can see who has voted, but not who they voted for. You are permitted and encouraged to vote in the election, including voting for yourself. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see your tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RfA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, you must have received at least 70% support, calculated as support ÷ (support + oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("'crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation as a candidate, and best of luck.

Administrator Elections: Discussion phase

Administrator Elections | Discussion phase

The discussion phase of the October 2024 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • October 22–24 - Discussion phase
  • October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • November 1–? - Scrutineering phase

During October 22–24, we will be in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages will open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Discussion phase.

On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Our Admin Election Test

Hello there. As we're preparing to move from one stage to the next, this is just a quick note from one member of the test group to another, wishing you well in the process of this new alternative to RfA. It seems that there are more of us in this group than some in the community anticipated, so i hope that doesn't make the experience any the worse for all of us. Whatever our individual results, i thank you, along with the rest, for stepping up and testing this process; happy days, ~ LindsayHello 07:12, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
