Hello Wikipedia Editors,
I am proposing an article about Leila McDougall, an Australian filmmaker, writer, and advocate, known for her work on Just A Farmer. I understand that writing about subjects with a close connection can pose a conflict of interest. Therefore, I want to be transparent about my relationship with Leila McDougall: I am affiliated with her team and have worked on projects related to her film.
I am aware of Wikipedia's guidelines regarding autobiographies and conflicts of interest, and I have made an effort to ensure that the draft is written in a neutral tone, with all claims supported by independent, reliable sources. Here is a brief summary of the notable aspects of her career:
  • Notability: Just A Farmer has received international recognition, winning awards at festivals like the Buffalo International Film Festival and the Saint-Tropez Antipodes Film Festival. The film has also been featured in prominent media outlets, including ABC News and IF Magazine, for its impact on rural mental health awareness.
  • Independent Coverage: The article cites a range of reliable, independent sources, such as IF Magazine, ABC News, and Saxton Speakers. These sources provide significant coverage of Leila McDougall's work and contributions.
Key Points of the Draft
  • Career Achievements: Focuses on her film work, particularly Just A Farmer, and her advocacy for rural mental health.
  • Philanthropic Efforts: Describes her nonprofit organization, Live Rural, and the impact of the "Mellow in the Yellow" event.
  • Awards and Recognition: Lists notable awards and recognitions received for her film.
I am requesting feedback from experienced Wikipedia editors to determine if the article meets notability and neutrality standards. If there are areas that need further improvement or additional sourcing, I am open to suggestions and will gladly make revisions.
Thank you for considering this proposal, and I appreciate any guidance you can provide.
Best regards,

Hi @Leila Mcdougall. Our first problem here is that your user name is "Leila McDougall" but you state you are not Leila McDougall. This unfortunately breaks our username policy.
Please request a new username by following the instructions at Wikipedia:Changing username.
Once your username has been changed, you need to formally declare your affiliation with Leila. Thank you for explaining above how you are affiliated, you just need to declare that in the format following the instructions here. qcne (talk) 11:53, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback regarding the username and conflict of interest disclosure. I wanted to provide an update:
  1. I have submitted a request to change my username to ensure it complies with Wikipedia's guidelines. It is currently awaiting approval.
  2. I have also added a Conflict of Interest (COI) disclosure to my user page to clearly state my affiliation with Leila McDougall and my intention to propose edits transparently.
I appreciate your guidance and will continue to use talk pages for proposing changes to maintain neutrality and follow Wikipedia's policies. If there are any additional steps I need to take, please let me know.
Thank you for your time and assistance!
Best regards,
Irvin Leila Mcdougall (talk) 07:54, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks @IrvinQEdits, you've done that all successfully. qcne (talk) 10:01, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your kind response and for confirming that the initial steps have been successfully completed. I greatly appreciate your guidance throughout this process.
I would like to seek further clarification regarding the current status of the draft for Leila McDougall. Are there any remaining issues or areas where the draft needs improvement to meet Wikipedia's notability and neutrality guidelines? I have ensured that all claims are supported by reliable, independent sources and have revised the language to align with the encyclopedic tone.
If there are still aspects of the draft that require adjustment or additional references, I would be happy to address them promptly. Your feedback is invaluable, and I look forward to making the necessary changes.
Thank you again for your time and assistance! IrvinQEdits (talk) 04:11, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
