Information icon Hello, I'm AntiDionysius. I noticed that you recently removed content from Travis Kelce without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. This person is incorrect, you did provide a reason. However, it is commonplace on Wikipedia to discuss relationships even outside of marriages. The only time it's a problem is when someone who isn't notable gets mentioned by name. Please stop removing information about Travis Kelce's relationships.--Rockchalk717 22:44, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Gfs are as notable as wives? Can’t be serious.lol Please explain the objective standard of “notable” that’s been consistently applied on this site? Then the sources listed are suspect, gossip sites. Arguing over when and why they broke up when dealing with one of/if not thee best TE and his accomplishments is absurd. As if these facts are important considering his professional career. Even he hasn’t addressed this and stated that in a recent interview that he’s not discussing his love life. So why is it being done here?
Then your statement isn’t even correct. There are instances on Wikipedia where even wives aren’t even mentioned. For example, Shane Buechele’s wife isn’t named in his personal section. If there isn’t a consistently applied rule that every celebrity’s possible gf/bf is named on Wikipedia, then these shouldn’t be either.
Are you a Wikipedia admin who approves edit(s)? If not, I want that user to review since they are in a position to stop further edits. Thanks! Leighwills (talk) 04:03, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't such thing as "a Wikipedia admin who approves edits". Content decisions are made on the basis of consensus, and notability is a malleable concept that is often hashed out through discussion. You are indeed correct that there isn't a consistent rule about when or when not to mention people's romantic relationships, not least because there are very few ironclad rules about anything. If you'd like to add Shane Buechele's wife to his page, please do; I think it would be an important and worthy addition.
But the point of the page isn't to focus on his professional career, the point is to give information about Kelce as a public figure. His relationships, rightly or wrongly, are things lots of people are interested in. It frankly doesn't matter whether he declines to discuss his love life in interviews, since the information is available elsewhere; we generally prioritise secondary sources over primary anyway. AntiDionysius (talk) 14:58, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did explain why. There’s no need to add every gf Travis has dated. The focus should be on his accomplishments. Leighwills (talk) 03:40, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That is not even remotely close to what I said. I said it's a problem when someone is mentioned by name that is not notable that someone was in a relationship with. You mentioned Shane Buechele. Saying he's married is fine, if it can be verified, but her name should not be added (see Harrison Butker as an example). Same goes with non-notable children. With Travis Kelce, he dated a reality show winner (notable enough to be mentioned by name) and a social media influencer (notable enough to be mentioned by name. If the rumors about him dating Taylor Swift are (in the unlikely event) true, because she is notable we could mention that, but we wouldn't mention a non-notable person he dated in college. A good example of this is Aaron Rodgers, notable girlfriends but never married and his notable girlfriends are mentioned. Brittany Mahomes was mentioned in Patrick's article before they were married as well. And no, articles about players aren't focused solely on accomplishments. Sharing publicly available information about their personal lives is fine. The issue is you are removing relationships he's had with notable people, not that removing relationships. If a college or high school girlfriend was mentioned that wasn't notable, I wouldn't of reverted it.--Rockchalk717 22:47, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Travis is dating Taylor Swift. Clearly she’s notable & there are numerous credible sources where this info can be found but don’t see this. Why isn’t it added? Leighwills (talk) 02:47, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Because there's no confirmation it's true. The credible sources just say it's "rumoured". When it becomes more than that, it'll be added. AntiDionysius (talk) 09:44, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
e.g. the BBC 16 hours ago: "Travis Kelce has lavished praise on his rumoured love interest, Taylor Swift" AntiDionysius (talk) 09:45, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Both Taylor & Travis are American so I’d believe credible American sources who Tree Pain leaves to rather than the BBC, including their own statements that are somehow discounted lolol Leighwills (talk) 13:42, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

We Americans would classify this as casually dating/fling until it becomes exclusive. Given Taylor’s fan base, it might as well be until they say they’re just friends.

now she’s rumored by credible sources to be at the chiefs v. Jets game. Until she shows that’s a rumor. Even if casual dating isn’t used, Travis and Taylor are spending time together. If every gf can be added, surely a sentence from credible American sources on two of the biggest American stars in football and music can be mentioned. Leighwills (talk) 13:54, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't generally call TMZ a credible source, since they've been known to publish things as fact that were just rumours in the past. But if you'd like to start a discussion on the Travis Kelce talk page to see if there's consensus on adding it, feel free, that's how we work these things out AntiDionysius (talk) 14:00, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok will do. Also haven’t checked but every source listed here is from the BBC & certified credible? Leighwills (talk) 14:16, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Every source listed where? AntiDionysius (talk) 14:23, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
