Notability of Lee kah wai

[edit]

The article Lee kah wai has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 04:01, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page and lack of other edits

[edit]

Hello Leekahwai,
I've noticed that in the 11 months you've been registered, you've made quite a few edits to your user page, but you haven't made any edits to other pages here. Wikipedia is not for personal web pages or file storage. I'm not sure what you are creating your current user page for, but it looks like a resume and doesn't appear to be useful for improving the encyclopedia. Please see Wikipedia:User page for more information on acceptable user page use, and please consider making some useful contributions to the encyclopedia itself. --OnoremDil 11:46, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Onorem,
I was trying recently on trying to test this page here within my userpage. Instead of using sandbox because nobody wants to see a user page anyways. I have uploaded an article on a Secondary school recently. I am still figuring our how to post a wikipedia site. --Lee Kah Wai 10:40, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Singaporean?

[edit]

I noticed you have edited a few Singapore-related articles. Are you a Singaporean? You might also be interested in our Singapore Wikipedians' notice board. There are quite a number of worthy articles waiting to be written or improved! Pegasus «C¦ 02:35, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LeeKahWai: Yes. I am a Singaporean. Will look into it. Thanks

Wow you reply quickly! One last little detail - when you make comments or replies on talk pages (like this one!), please type ~~~~ (four tildes) - It's our Wikipedian way of signing off and it will let other editors know who made the comment and when. Thanks! Pegasus «C¦ 02:41, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh... I just noticed your user page - I'm from NTU too (your junior). Email me if you want to ask about that... ;)

By the way you uploaded Image:Lkahwai.JPG which you intended to use on your user page but I see you removed it from there. Do you wish to delete it? I can delete for you. Pegasus «C¦ 03:45, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh are u still studying there? I m eating snake in my office right now. hahaha Leekahwai (talk) 03:53, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have uploaded the picture back. Thanks. Wow, u have a watch on my page? That is real quick to response.
Hmm... I didn't know life after graduation is that relaxing... :P
As for whether I'm watching this page - no, I don't use the watchlist feature. I monitor my contributions instead. If any of my edits are no longer marked as "(top)" I use popups to see what changed in the page history. :-) Pegasus «C¦ 03:59, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Icic.. You are in which faculty in NTU? EEE? SCE? I was formerly from School of Computer Engineering from 2001 to 2005.

And by the way life after graduation is not that relaxing. It depends... Sometimes may need to work over the weekend or worse, over the holidays and overnight. But sometimes, so free that I can actually chat in wikipedia. :p 203.125.172.2 (talk) 05:15, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Henderson

[edit]

Hi .... I see you have created an article for this school. I was interested in finding a school to go on the wikipedia front page. As you know ... schools have tricky notability. I have added a section about citronella which I feel is notable. To "make it on the front page" then a school article has to be no more than 5 days old. Is it possible that you could

  • help with establishing notability - 3rd party references required for article.
  • help with images - suspect your pictures are "borrowed" we need to replace or get clear permission. Replacement is usually easier with self taken images.
  • Do we need all the lists? This is an encyclopedia!

Hope you enjoy this process. Shout if your don't!Victuallers (talk) 15:22, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vicuallers, I am still new to the wiki. The reference cited was the official webpage of the school hosted by the Ministry of Education. So I presume that the facts are true. As for the school going on a front page, then you should check out on this category: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Secondary_schools_in_Singapore. I presume that the category itself is a notable source for populating the schoold.
Regarding the images, Can u help mi remove and send a note to put up a notice of request for a new image that is not copyrighted. Think someone will put it up eventually. Regarding the lists, feel free to remove if u feel that it is not correctly done. I do not know what is the procedure here in wiki. That goes the same for the things that u feel that citations are needed.
Thanks a lot. BTW, I see that the changes u made comes with comments. How do u add comments in the history page? Leekahwai (talk) 03:53, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • "New" is fine ... are you keen?
  • Obviosly the school web site is a good source - but may not be "all" the truth. Wikipedia wants 3rd party sources. ie. not us, not them, but someone else e.g. newspaper. Ideally we need to find out what others think. The school would obviuously like to show their best side.
  • Don't understand your category reference - the category is created automatically by the school articles. Its no more true or false than the articles.
  • images - don't understand your request for help. Is it possible that you can take some photos of the school with a phone tomorrow? That way there will be no copyright issue. Even with the logo, we have no proof that the logo is allowed to be used. I can show you the instructions for uploading imaages (see "help" on left of main menu).
  • comments are done by just writing things in the special way. Hidden comment here
  • references use the ref tag - they are much more important.
  • If not bothered about this - then just say.

regards Victuallers (talk) 12:27, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Icic.. The comments are the same as the html comments.
  • I m not bothered about people removing the pics or removing certain contents if insufficient citations were provided. In fact, I support this gesture. Please feel free to edit. As long as the information is true, I have no reason to argue, correct? So please by all means edit as u deemed fit. Thanks Leekahwai (talk) 06:39, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
