Network information economy

[edit]

Just to let you know, I've made Network information economy a redirect, rather than having the page state that it is a common misspelling. You can find more information about redirects at WP:REDIRECT. Adam McMaster 10:43, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Industrial information economy, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Industrial information economy is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Industrial information economy, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. CSDWarnBot 08:30, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article Networked information economy has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Could the user Dgtsyb stop vandalizing my talk page with such warnings? I sought a third opinion and so could you please listen to it, it can be found here Talk:Signaling System 7#third_opinion. Please continue the discussion there and cut out the bullying tactics please as it helps nobody.

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well potentially being penalized by search engines.

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Please see and continue the discussion at Talk:Signaling System 7#third_opinion. As you will see there the allegation of spamming was false. The real issue is to deter user Dgtsyb from carrying on with more harmful and time wasting claims. Leedryburgh (talk) 22:12, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Signaling System 7, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Leedryburgh for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. Dgtsyb (talk) 11:50, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to SIGTRAN. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please note that the link to your book is already in the citation under SIGTRAN#References and is inappropriate in SIGTRAN#External links per Talk:SIGTRAN#Third opinion. The same applies for Signaling System 7 where your book appears in Signaling System 7#References and is inappropriate in Signaling System 7#External links per User talk:Leedryburgh#Spam links. Dgtsyb (talk)

Dgtsyb cut the BS. It should be under External Links, stop removing it and this issue should be discussed on the SS7 discussion page, stop forking discussions. You've been told by other wikipedia users to stop vandalising my page with warnings. Discussion as well you know fine is ongoing here Talk:Signaling_System_7 Leedryburgh (talk) 22:10, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have been reported for spamming here. Dgtsyb (talk) 22:59, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dgtsyb cut the pseudo admin messages and as advised by other Wikipedia users, stop vandalising talk pages. Try and ADD something to Wikipedia of value rather than seek to continuously detract from it! Get a life too, find a family to belong to, take a walk in the park, get a dog, but for the sake if everyone's sanity who has had to deal with you here Talk:Signaling_System_7 , do something for yourself. You know help is out there, it it's aspergers get pills. If it is lack of a woman try match.com etc.

Could you both please just step back and take a big deep breath. The edit war is getting a little tiring and as someone who monitors the SS7 page its also distracting. Can you BOTH please take it to a discussion page and/or RFC it or something? Constantly taking a rapid escalation path and also in return resorting to insults doesnt help either of you. Beardybloke (talk) 23:13, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken time out twice! If you look at the history I've taken holidays from user Dgtsyb. But no matter how much time I have out within 5 minutes of returning to Wikipedia, the user is back undoing. He must be chained to a PC somewhere 24/7 and constantly watching. And if he had just put in a 100th of his time doing this to actually engaging in dialgue there would be zero issue. He knows fair well to comment on the discussion page Talk:Signaling_System_7. Instead he not only starts up vandalising my page again after a third person asked him to refrain from it, but just like the false sock puppet claim Wikipedia:Suspected_sock_puppets/Leedryburgh he has not submitted a false spam claim Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Spam#Leedryburgh the irony is if it was spam, he added the same link to References, twice today! LOL. It seems his problem is not spam but he wants it in References not External Links! What he wants is a moving target. He has had the site linked to modified 3 times now to suite him! Now there is nothing to change so he now seems to be pushing to move it out of External Links into References. That's my best guess. Why he submits more false claims i have no idea and it amazes me Wikipedia has no means to punish such a user.
Hi. This is quite a situation that's developed!
  1. Please do not add links to or cite your own work. It's considered conflict of interest per our Conflict of Interest Guideline. If others wish to do this, it's certainly OK. If you add the link back, I will remove it in accordance with the guideline. If someone else adds it appropriately, I'll leave it alone.
  2. There's no need for the external link if the site is already used as a reference. We accept some external links but we very much prefer references and footnotes.
  3. In the interests of harmony, please disengage from Dgtsyb -- I've asked him to do the same.
--A. B. (talkcontribs) 23:46, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to keep this short as possible. User Dgtsyb did not want it added to the external links as he said it was commercial. Leaving that argument along, three revisions later nobody could claim it was not acceptable. Then he seemed to want it moved to References and using the usual bullying techniques to own the pages, he submitted a false spam report. Now the problem is it is not acceptable to have the hyperlink in References because the book is still being sold (Kindle and Safari formats) and by doing this, it is making out that the book is still not available in a clean, downloadable format from the publisher. Hence the external link. If we keep trying to meet the conditions of the person Dgtsyb who thinks he owns the pages and keeps changing the targets we will be here for infinity. Fact was if you read above the discussion was adding it to External Links but once i made everyone happy that it was not commercial Dgtsyb has now changed the criteria (self-appointed) and sucked more people in and made more false claims. I am very surprised Wikipedia all along does not have methods for dis-arming such a user. And now it seems to me that Dgtsyb is having someone add the links back in using my text to support a false spam claim. Very sad. Leedryburgh (talk) 09:03, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have to say I was wondering the same thing - the text used is the exact text used by Leedryburgh. Trying to circumvent a request to step back by IP editting does reduce my goodwill somewhat - but theres no overt proof it was him, it could just as easily have been someone interested in discrediting him - an admin would need to look at that I would guess Beardybloke (talk) 00:00, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dgtsyb, please just let others deal with this now. Thanks! --A. B. (talkcontribs) 00:02, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Leedryburgh, please take another look at the note I left you above as well as the COI guideline. Do not add that link again, using either an IP, this account or some other account. Thanks! --A. B. (talkcontribs) 00:07, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not adding the link again. Leedryburgh (talk) 09:13, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Someone is playing games here to confuse the situation. My IP is 86.59.109.224. I'll refrain from sharing my opinion on who is doing what. What I can say is it is further wasting everyone's time. This is worse than the Monty Python episode over a dirty fork. Leedryburgh (talk) 08:51, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is getting out of hand. Please just walk away from the subject of your link and do not push to have it added. I suggest you just unplug your modem and walk away from this for a while. We value both yours and Dgtsyb's contributions; you both need to move on to something more productive now.
Thanks, --A. B. (talkcontribs) 16:14, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As with many conflicts, principles are at stake. If a user can force an author of a book not to include a link to the book (completely free etc) and it's the most comprehensive book against the Wikipedia topic and referenced, then Wikipedia would be doomed if we all let users behave this way without push back. So it's out of principle, to preserve the commons. Leedryburgh (talk) 16:42, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blockable

[edit]

User Leedryburgh is blockable, in my opinion, specifically as per Wikipedia:Blocking policy#Disruption:

(page histories: IP Multimedia Subsystem | Signaling System 7 | SIGTRAN)
(e.g. contribs: 41.232.181.152 | 41.232.182.119 | 41.232.182.44 | 80.108.90.135 | 89.210.129.43)

Athaenara 22:22, 17 July 2008 (UTC) [and 23:12, 22 July 2008 (UTC)][reply]

There has been no sock puppetry nor any link spamming. I'm not even sure there was any edit war that breached 3RR so not sure why the above has been placed on my talk page. Note that the mentioned IP 41.232.182.119 is nothing to do with me. Please remove the "blockable" thanks Leedryburgh (talk) 23:04, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've just noticed that the user which was running to admins with false claims has been blocked, see User_talk:Dgtsyb. I suspect it was the same user who passed the false claims above to you. So I'd be most happy if the above is adjusted accordingly. Leedryburgh (talk) 23:11, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Soliciting Feedback on Educational Assignment

[edit]

Hello,

My name is Javier Campanini. I'm a student at Cornell University working on a class project for an Online Communities course. Our task is to contribute an article to Wikipedia. There are a total of 3 people on the team and so far, we've started to gather the information and create sections for the article.

The subject of the article is Incentive-Centered Design. The current page (a work in progress) can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Jmc242/incentive-centered_design

We would really appreciate any feedback or comments you could provide on our progress so far.

Thank you, Javier Campanini Jmc242 (talk) 22:53, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
