Speedy deletion of Lawvolution.com
[edit]A tag has been placed on Lawvolution.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - I saw your note and wish you the best with your site. However Wikipedia can not be used for advertising, no matter the value of the cause (and, as a student myself, I can relate to the problems of monopolistic publishers). For myself, I hope your site continues to grow and competes with other publishers. However Wikipedia's policy is clear. Best wishes and good luck. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. --TeaDrinker (talk) 05:11, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note and I understand your concern. We do try and consistently apply policy, but of course with such a large project it is difficult to ensure it. The article you cite, Medpedia, was both created by an independent party (someone not affiliated with the site) and was the subject of numerous independent press articles (making the material verifiable), and yet was still nominated for deletion (but was kept). If it were concerns about advertising as a stylistic/writing issue alone, I would be happy to work with you to reduce the effects of a conflict of interest. However your site being as new as it is, and with no independent media sources covering it, verification in reliable sources would be difficult. We usually require an article meet a certain notability guideline, much of which boils down to independent news coverage. For this article, WP:WEB is the appropriate guideline. I think it is a great project and hope it succeeds, but I'm afraid it will have to become well known before it can be included in Wikipedia. Incidentally, there may however be a way which Wikipedia can help your site grow. All of our content is freely licensed under GNU Free Documentation License, which basically means you can use it with (i) attribution and (ii) retention of the same license. Let me know if you need more information on this. Best wishes, --TeaDrinker (talk) 05:39, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Sorry for the delay in getting this to you. Remember the reliable sources have to be from published media. Creating a second account won't really do anything (and is rather frowned upon generally, and misuse can lead to all sorts of trouble). I would suggest, just as a means of promoting your project, issuing a press release. If you can get media coverage, you would have a real shot at establishing notability which meets WP:WEB. Plus press coverage couldn't hurt in getting new users too. Hope this helps. --TeaDrinker (talk) 05:56, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
