Article deletion
[edit]Hi! I'm the content expert for your course and I received a notice that a page you created, Culture Appropriation in Food, Clothing, & Music, was up for deletion. Unfortunately I do have to agree with the nominator that the page does contain original research, which is not appropriate for Wikipedia articles.
What original research means to Wikipedia is that in your writing you drew your own conclusions from your research and asked questions of both the work and the reader. You also referred to yourself in your writing and occasionally showed your feelings on the subject matter. It ultimately read like a research paper and not an encyclopedia article. As a research article it's very well written, however a research paper is an entirely different beast.
While I was reviewing the page I did notice another big problem, namely that the page is somewhat redundant to the pre-existing article on cultural appropriation. I say somewhat, because while the page does have a section on fashion and clothing, it doesn't have ones that focus on overall appropriation of food and music. My recommendation would be to use the material in your article to write two subsections on food and music for the cultural appropriation article. This way your research will still be around, but in a different format. Would this be something that you would be interested in? I know that the Wikipedia portion of the class will end on May 5th. If you're interested, drop me a note on my talk page or reply here with this tag so I'll know to check your page: {{u|Shalor (Wiki Ed)}} Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 12:37, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
