Speedy deletion of SP&S Class L-4

[edit]

A tag has been placed on SP&S Class L-4 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Explodicle (talk) 18:12, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spokane Portland and Seattle Railway Locomotives

[edit]

Hi. I am sorry to tell you that I have deleted several of the articles you set up about locomotives for the SP&S. The problem with the articles was a lack of content, since they consisted of headings, and empty infoboxes, in other words, skeletons of articles but without content. Pages like that run afoul of Speedy deletion criteria A1 (lack of context) and A3 (lack of content). This is because such article are worse than having no article at all. When there is a "blue link", it tells the reader that an article is available, and it is annoying and disappointing if they wind up seeing merely a placeholder, rather than an article. A "red link" tells the reader the full truth, that there is no article (yet).

Locomotive types are generally welcomed however, and they don't need to be long articles either, stubs which contain a bit of prose are generally adequate. I see you have made substantial contributions to some other locomotive articles, and so a big thank you to you for that. Best wishes, Sjakkalle (Check!) 08:35, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
