Antioxidant article
[edit]On the talk page, you said: To further improve this article, I think for the health research, plant-derived antioxidants can be added to explain their relation to diet. Biomolecules such as melatonin are also good example of antioxidants other than polyphenol. Also, I think adding further information on how common pharmaceuticals with antioxidant properties interfere with anticancer drugs in detail would be better by providing why they interrupt anticancer drugs and mentioning how anticancer drugs work in a human body. For the industrial uses, specifically how synthetic phenolic and aminic antioxidants cause potential human and environmental hazards could be mentioned.
Copying Stoodley UBC. While I admire and encourage your learning to edit Wikipedia, your course assignment area is chemistry, not medicine. Among the 4 sentences above, the first 3 are medical and dietary misinformation for which there are no WP:MEDRS reviews, so I encourage you to divert away from these topics. A review of the talk page archives and article history would show these areas have been in numerous debates, with the current article content prevailing.
Your prior talk page comment here showed you are unfamiliar with medical literature, and are unqualified to be editing medical content, WP:CIR. See WP:MEDHOW which describes the high standard for Wikipedia medical content.
I can't advise what content on chemistry you would add or revise, but this topic can be discussed with Stoodley, and perhaps could involve a topic related to "how synthetic phenolic and aminic antioxidants cause potential human and environmental hazards", as long as you have a WP:MEDSCI review, regulatory ruling or position statement by a clinical organization - I am unaware that such sources exist.
Your course outline indicates that focus should be on some topic of antioxidant chemistry, discussed with your course instructor. I hope your overall editing experience on Wikipedia is positive, and wish you a good outcome in your course. Good luck. Zefr (talk) 18:17, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I have posted the draft about the antioxidant article in my sandbox, and my edit falls into the health research section. I want some feedback from Wikipedia users about my edit on that section, especially about chemo/radiation therapy, anticancer drugs, and melatonin. I focused on writing more about free radical formation rather than mentioning much about medicinal content, but I am not so sure. Would you mind reading it in my sandbox and giving me some feedback?
