Question

[edit]

I'd like to ask if you previously edited under a different account? Coming directly to ANI and making comments of the kind you did is highly unusual for a newcomer. Thank you. Biophys (talk) 18:40, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nah, been editing and watching Wikipedia for a while, but those particular remarks prompted me to join and comment. ANI seems like fun! LaoZi81 (talk) 18:46, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of sourced material

[edit]

Hi I noticed you are a prolific and bold editor who has access to a large library. For instance, among the references you have removed since you opened your account yesterday, were these two:

  • Cite journal|last=Dr. Badawi|first=Jamal A.|title=The Status of Women in Islam|journal=Al-Ittihad Journal of Islamic Studies|volume=8|issue=2|date=September 1971|ref=harv|postscript=
  • Harv|Badr|1984|pp=167 (referring to Badr, Gamal Moursi; Mayer, Ann Elizabeth (Winter 1984). "Islamic Criminal Justice". The American Journal of Comparative Law (The American Journal of Comparative Law, Vol. 32, No. 1) 32 (1): 167–169. doi:10.2307/840274)

I can't help but wonder if perhaps your mistakenly updated the accompanying edit summary as follows: not found in source, and thought I would double-check with you, just to confirm, you actually looked up these references and were unable to verify them? If you actually did, may I ask what service or library you used to do so? The reason I ask is because, while the wording of the sourced assertions may be a bit "loose", I am certain you would agree that Islam granted women rights of property and identity not matched by the west until the 19th century, and not all these limitations were removed from French women until the 1960s? Thanks Aquib (talk) 18:25, 6 January 2011 (UTC) Sorry, forgot to mention I am referring to this edit you made on the Sharia article. Aquib (talk) 18:29, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
