Welcome!

Hello, Lankaman7777, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Hameed Al Husseinie College, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. The article Hameed Al Husseinie College has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable school; fails WP:ORG and GNG.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I received your note at my talk page.

The kind of deletion proposed here is what we call a "PROD". If you disagree with the deletion rationale, you can just remove the {{dated prod}} notice (you'll see it in the edit window), and it will not be deleted for that reason.

However, a bigger problem is that you have copied this content from somewhere else. We regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.obahahc.lk/AboutHAH.html, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on new text for this article, you may do so. You should consider reviewing your first article and adding additional reliable sources to the rewritten article to help demonstrate that it is notable to alleviate the concerns of the person who has "PROD" nominated it.

Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:25, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The directions for verifying this are the third step above, beginning "If you own the copyright...." If you need assistance with the procedure, please let me know. We don't guarantee that content will be retained if donated; as it says at the bottom of every edit screen, "If you do not want your writing to be edited, used, and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here." Wikipedia's contributors will modify that text in accordance with the project's guidelines and policies.
However, your involvement with the school does raise another issue; please review Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations. As you are connected with the school, we strongly encourage you not to edit or create articles related to it, except under limited circumstances (described in those documents). We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but we prefer that contributors edit on subjects with which they are not personally connected in order to help maintain our goal of neutrality. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:36, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I just wanted to let you know that we need permission for the logo, too, and for the other image as well if it has already been published on the internet. I've left directions for that at your Commons talk page, Commons:User talk:Lankaman7777. Again, please let me know if you need assistance with the procedure. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:43, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for mailing your permission. Please watch your inbox for a reply, as the OTRS agents will advise you of additional steps that may need to be taken for clearing the logo. As far as other images of the school are concerned, how you handle them depends on how the images are handled elsewhere. If they are already published or if you intend to publish them on your website, then by all means you should send a permission letter for those as well. When you upload the images, tag them with {{OTRS pending}} (curly brackets and all) to let other users know that the letter is on its way. You should in all cases have heard from OTRS within two weeks of sending your letter. If you don't, please resend your permission letter. There's always a chance that the letter was lost in transit. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:07, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you must sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 07:19, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Obi2canibe. I noticed that you made a change to an article, List of the oldest schools in Sri Lanka, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. obi2canibetalk contr 11:48, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
