Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Landon Thomas 23, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Brianda and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Page moves

[edit]

Hello, Landon Thomas 23,

If you continue to move around pages on this project, your account will be blocked from editing. You are causing nothing but disruption that other editors have to go around cleaning up after you. Each time you move a page, it creates a redirect which then needs to be assessed whether it should be deleted. You have moved pages over a dozen times, creating work for other editors. This is why we block editors. So, just stop now. Consider this your only and final warning.

If you have questions about moving pages or editing on Wikipedia, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:51, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Liz, Looping you in, I talked to the student editor and the instructor and asked them to stop editing the mainspace and keep their contribution in their sandbox. Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:41, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Brianda. Tintic War is an 18 year old main space article and a new editor just can't replace it with their new version. I have reverted that edit. This kind of thing has happened a lot over the past few days. It's absolutely fine if a student wants to improve existing content in main space but they can't delete and replace an long-standing article with a new draft article. Thank you for your help. Liz Read! Talk! 01:36, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, I see students editing existing articles, I make a point to emphasize to not plop their work over existing text. Our trainings also state that as well, encouraging small chunk edits, but here we are. Appreciate you @Liz. Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:30, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
