Wombat name

Hi there

The title common wombat should not be used anymore. The accepted name for this species is bare-nosed wombat. They are rapidly declining in numbers due to a multitude of factors and persisting in calling them "common" doesn't help conservation efforts

Is there another reason why my edits were reverted?

The correct and more practical place to argue for a change of name for the Common wombat is on that article's Talk page - Talk:Common wombat. A lot more people will see your suggestion there. Be aware though, that for the name to change in our article, you would need to provide a reliable source for your claim that "The accepted name for this species is bare-nosed wombat".
