Non Free Images in your User Space

[edit]

Hey there Lakewood66, thank you for your contributions! I am a bot alerting you that Non-free files are not allowed in the user or talk-space. I removed some files that I found on User:Lakewood66. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use images to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

Fair use rationale for File:MksLLC VIP logo 0200.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:MksLLC VIP logo 0200.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 21:18, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Library as a service, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Thanks for your messsage. I note that you wrote a promotional article using an image supplied by the company. Before we go any further, if you have a conflict of interest, you must declare it. If you work directly or indirectly for an organisation, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Lakewood66. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Lakewood66|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message.

Also read the following regarding writing an article:

  • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, logs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company or organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls. Your text seems to be sourced to interviews and company-written sources in local sites, whereas we require independent third-party sources at a national level.
  • The notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
  1. significant coverage in
  2. independent,
  3. multiple,
  4. reliable,
  5. secondary sources.
Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability.

Your text was a classic promo, our history-this is what we sell-our awards, an it's not clear how you meet the notability criteria I've linked.

  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

I'm prepared in principle to restore the text in an edited version (there is an extraneous templte that would have to go anyway), but you should make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Let me know if you want me to do so. You must also reply to the COI request above. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:58, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for declaring your COI. Note that because of your COI you must wait for any draft to be reviewed, and not move it yourself.

There are some issues with your draft.

  • Some of the sources are dubious. An interview with Kovacs is not an independent third-party source, and I don't think a local business journal is adequate; "big in Buffalo"doesn't give regional or national credibility.
  • Your article was tagged as spam because it's a classic company promo, our history-what we sell-our awards. The location and number of employees only appear in the infobox, and the latter is unsourced. There is no mention of turnover or profit. A separate awards section always looks spammy, and none of the awards is linked to an existing article. number 25 on a list of the 50 fastest-growing companies as ranked by year-over-year revenue growth in Buffalo doesn't really set the pulse racing, and isn't worth mentioning. You need to see if you can find better sources, preferably not restricted to Buffalo, and find more info to make the text a more balanced view of the company. When you have done that, let me know, and I'll restore the draft, possibly in an edited form Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:21, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just a couple of quick comments for now. I'd bring the second paragraph higher up in the lead, so you aren't plunging straight into "this is what we sell", and I'd put the revenue and employees in the text as well as the infobox. If the company has international sales, you might want to give Celsius conversions using Template:Convert, but your call. I'll have a proper look later Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:49, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've added some links, but OSHA, ASTM and dBA need links or a gloss. I've added a citation needed tag. I'd say staff say, where you have staff says, but I suspect that's a BE/AE difference in how to use mass nouns. I think that you need to submit it and see what the reviewers say Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:32, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
