The more information and the more sources the better, to be honest (I personally prefer multiple references for the same information) - you've obviously spent more time on it than I did, so the merged version should naturally contain substantially your content. As for the name, I think the current redirect works best, as a new "common name" may not necessarily catch on, while there is a reasonable amount of literature on the scientific name.
