Some of the information was already there and I only added to it. If the broken references and external links are not associated with my edits how do I work with this issue?

I am a little confused because I thought that I was making edits to the Biosafety page rather than trying to create a new page. I used the sandbox to make and track my edits and then submitted from there.

Do you have guidance on what I did incorrectly. I worked really hard on my edits and would like to share them so that people are better informed about the growing field of Biosafety.

I have applied your changes to the Biosafety article. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. Editors who have been working on Biosafety will review these changes and may reject or modify them. I'm not sure exactly sure how to use the sandbox for the type of work you've done here.
