Speedy deletion nomination of Terry Shaughnessy
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Terry Shaughnessy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.fredperry.com/subculture/profile-the-universal. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on Terry Shaughnessy, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

- So, this is the fourth time you've tried to create this article (three times at Terry Shaughnessy). Please get the message: you may not copy text from other websites verbatim. This is a violation of the other site's copyrights and of Wikipedia's policy. If you continue to post this material, you will likely find yourself blocked. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Terry Shaughnessy - The Universal, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of http://terryshaughnessy.co.uk/about/. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. [edit]This is your only warning; if you create an inappropriate page again, as you did at Terry Shaughnessy - The Universal, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Please do not continue to add copyrighted material to Wikipedia. TonyBallioni (talk) 21:27, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
We own Terry Shaughnessy.co.uk, so it is not copyrighted.. We have also removed the press reference which was deemed as a copyright
- Hi! Thanks for the message! The material is copyrighted (the notice on the bottom of the page that you own) and Wikipedia cannot publish copyrighted material. You might own the copyright, but that does not make it cease to be copyrighted. Regardless of the copyright issue, it would still be a promotional article, and is eligible for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. To answer your question on my talk page about the warning: an administrator will review the deletion, and likely delete the article. If you recreate a similar promotional or copyright infringing article, an administrator can block your account from further contributing to the encyclopedia. We still want you to contribute, and this would be unfortunate, but Wikipedia can't accept copyrighted or promotional work for articles. TonyBallioni (talk) 21:43, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for the reply.. Totally new to Wiki so apologies on the mistake, still trying to find our feet.. We have removed the press mentions which are related to terry shaughnessy site! Looking at other Wiki pages I cannot see what we have now done incorrectly in order for the page to go live?
- Not a problem. So, you can explain your reasoning on the article's talk page, and an admin will review it and see if they agree that it should be kept. I'll leave a templated message in a few minutes explaining more about Wikipedia with some helpful links! TonyBallioni (talk) 22:01, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- There's several problems with your submission. (1) It's worded like an advertisement, not an encyclopedia article. (2) Most of the content was copied from http://terryshaughnessy.co.uk/about/ without any evidence of permission from the copyright holder. That's a copyright violation. (3) The subject of the article may not be notable enough, as Wikipedia defines it, to qualify for an article at this time. For musicians, the notability requirements are listed at WP:BAND. Sorry, — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 22:05, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
How does anyone get anything done on here, it's total rubbish... You can poke it, we wont use Wikipedia at all.... Regardless of the "advertisement", read the above comments first before casting judgement.. .. I/we own the web site, it was not copied and for the 5th time, IT HAS BEEN REMOVED........................ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.71.150.79 (talk) 22:19, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
