The X-Files

[edit]

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia :) Your edits to the article are appreciated. Unfortunately, though, I had to revert them. The article used to contain a list of episodes that fans considered to be part of the mytharc, but there was a lot of disagreement as to which episodes belonged in the list, so we decided to just stick with those included on the mytharc DVD set. I hope you understand. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, either here or on my talk page. I look forward to seeing more of your edits soon :) Equazcion /C 21:23, 24 Apr 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I do rather resent it. I didn't provide a direct citation for each addition, because I thought it would clutter it up more, but if you'll go back and look, I provided a link to this article that lists extra mytharc files. I could also supply this as another source for episodes that follow the storyline. OR? I don't think so. It could be construed as synthesis, but not of the illegal kind, since this does not in any way advance any of my personal views; these edits are for the sake of fellow information seekers.
Again, it could be construed as a fringe theory (see 4th paragraph of Wikipedia:No_original_research/history), but that doesn't quite fit either, since the addition of those episodes aren't theory or even opinion! Anyone that has seen those episodes can easily verify that they are essential to the storyline. Conduit, for example, which is not on the Mythology compilation, is one of the main sources for the I want to believe mantra! That is an inarguably critical moment.
I'm reverting your change, and I'll add those citations if it will please you. I had searched everywhere for a reliable list of mytharc episodes, and this was a good start, but why not save others' time and make it more complete? Isn't that the purpose of wikipedia?

Other Wikipedia articles are not valid as sources, and the other site you linked is a fan site, not a reliable source. Saying that anyone can watch the episodes and draw your conclusion is still original research. Wikipedia article content needs to be verified by reliable, objective outside sources. If you searched everywhere but couldn't find one, then you need to wait until you do find one in order to include this information. Equazcion /C 15:09, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also see Talk:The_X-Files/Archive_5#About the unofficial mytharc section for a previous discussion on this, that led to the initial removal unsourced episodes from the list. As you can see this was discussed extensively and consensus was reached. Equazcion /C 15:13, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
