[edit]In Tokenism - How do we know that shows like "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "Martin" were created not with the purpose of cable sales in mind, but because of the growing popularity of black Americans in the media.
The character of Bennet in the movie Think Like a Man can be added to the token character list, he is set apart because of his personality that is based on his skin color.
Holder (1991) critiques much of Kanter's work that is referenced in the section "Tokenism in the Workplace", stating that the reason Tokens (especially the women with which she wrote her work on at the time) experienced the added pressure she identifies not because of being tokens, but as a result of sexism in a male dominated work place.
