User talk:Kustom web wiki
Hello, Kustom web wiki. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, El Costell, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want El Costell to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.
If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.
Thanks, GAtechnical (talk) 00:08, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
Your article El Costell
[edit]Hi, Kustom' and welcome to Wikipedia. I was checking recent changes and saw your article. I want to offer some advice.
First, you added the bio from elcostell.com as a reference. Unfortunately, self-published sources are not reliable sources. You must find sources that are independent and verifiable. All of the claims in a Wikipedia article must be supported by reliable sources, claims such as "Pioneer in the Abstract-Realist movement." I searched sites like abstractrealism.info and found no mention of her at all. If she was actually a pioneer in that movement, there should be articles in newspapers or magazines that support the claim.
Second, El Costell must be notable for an article about her to be included in Wikipedia. The only mention I could find other than the artist's own website was at armoryartsweek.com. She wasn't among the featured artists, just a mention that at least one of her works would be exhibited in a gallery. Much more will be needed to establish her notability as an artist.
Third, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Accuracy and a neutral point of view are fundamental and essential. Your article can be named El Costell if that is the moniker by which the artist is known but an encyclopedic article must include her given name, Sabrina Gaydos. The prose used in the article may not be promotional. Any claims must be supported by reliable sources. For example, her self published biography on her website states that her "work has received numerous awards". That statement is promotional and vague. To be included in Wikipedia, state what awards her work received and cite a reliable source to support the claims.
If you have specific questions, try visiting the Teahouse, a place that's especially friendly and helpful for newcomers. You can also ask on my talk page. For now, take care, DocTree (ʞlɐʇ·cont) Join WER 23:03, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
The article El Costell has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No reliable 3rd party references found (via Google, Highbeam or Questia) to show that the subject meets the notability criteria.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. AllyD (talk) 19:07, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
