Reverting edits
Hi,
Some of the articles I was working on, the links have been changed back to what they were before, any chance you could change them back to the link I put in? I know you can make mulitple edits at once, so I don't have to go back and change them one by one. Also, I don't want to get flagged again for the changes I am making. Thanks. HeMan5 02:12, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
RE: Article changes & External links
Hi,
So is it okay if I go and make the edits to the ones that were changed? I will just put back in the link I had before, that is all. Also, regarding the external links issue, all I was doing was changing the 'L' to lowercase, as I was told that only the first letter is supposed to be capitalised, is that correct? Thanks for your help and quick replies! HeMan5 02:21, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi again and any advice?
Hi Kukini! When I joined Wikipedia some two years ago (2!? where did that go?) you were very kind in helping me get started and sending a welcome message. I have edited here and there and it been a most enjoyable time - making great acquaintances along the way to get information into the public domain. However, I've recently hit a snag where another user keeps deleting a section and claiming plagiarism. Obviously it's not plagiarism (it's a 'firing offence' in my job and I know the issues inside out), yet the user seems to be quite keen to flame. I'm not quite sure what to do. One part of me thinks "forget it - just don't bother working on this page anymore" while another part of me thinks "surely there must be a better way". Anyway, if you go to the effect size page and see the discussion on "Aliens" (I'm not making this up, honestly) you'll see what I mean. If you don't have the time - no problem I just wasn't sure what to do. I hope you are well (I see from your pages that you've continued to make people feel welcome! Great work). Tubezone, the propietor of an article
Hi, Kukini.
Sorry for asking your help again. I left for some weeks, to avoid an edition war, but the user Tubezone continues to act as a bully and propietor of Emiliano Zapata article. Maunus left, because he couldn´t answer arguments.
Thanks.

Gentex Corporation
Hi! I'm the Corporation Communications Manager for Gentex Corporation, and I made a substantial addition to information about our company. I wanted to know more about adding linkins with Wikipedia and outside Wikipedia. How many would you recommend. I updated our posting so it is text rich with links to internal and external sources. Further, the content has been reviewed throughout our company, as well as our own in=house curator has reviewed for factual accuracy. Please advise as how you would like me to proceed. I got the content up, and added a logo. What do you suggest for images, etc. The images we can provide are either ours or already part of the public domain from the U.S. Department of Defense. I look forward to hearing from you shortly. Thanks! Cfabrizi 17:57, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Happyisgay
User:68.52.206.175 has taken a sockpuppet off of User:Happyisgay. When I put the tag back on, the IP user spoke on my talk page claiming to be "dougholton" of which Happyisgay is a suspected user of. Vandalism
You left this message on my talk page: Your edits leave other editors to presume that this may be a vandalism only account. Please change your approach. Kukini 03:03, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
What approach would you suggest? I plan to add information to The Record (Stockton) page, but I noticed the media links in some cities were inconsistent. I want to add a link to each city The Record covers, as all media are listed in some cities, and no media are listed in others. The point is education, not vandalism. Thanks for your guidance. Article and vandalism
Hi, apparently you and a few other users are upset because I've been "spamming" users on their talk pages. I am attempting to gather intereviewees for an article on Wikipedia users. I am targeting users based on other programs they're involved in. I am not harrassing them in any way. I leave one message and then leave it at that. If they want to participate, they contact me (and several have) and if they don't, they don't. I see no reason for the instantaneous harsh attiude I've gotten, nor the removal of my requests from pages as you've been doing. Could you please either stop deleting the messages or help me find a more appropriate venue to seek people out? FFFearlesss 22:40, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Okay well the next logical question is HOW do I email people directly? The only communication tool I've found is the talk pages. I don't want to digress too much but I'm really quite taken aback by the backlash on this whole thing. I would think a group of people so committed to producing a collaborative of knowledge would ENCOURAGE getting the word out in a way such as this and would be eager to help rather than threatening blockage and everything. FFFearlesss 00:41, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Excellent, thank you for the advice. I really do appreciate it. FFFearlesss 01:03, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi - I agree completely about the removal of content from Baylor University (that is - I agree with you, it should stay), and the reason I unblocked was really because the removal of the {{test1}} seemed to be a mistake (WP:AGFing here!), and because warning removal can't lead to a block. - Do bear in mind that multiple editors at the Stanford article have deleted the information that you have added. This may be a sign that it is not up to snuff for inclusion in the article. You may want to think about discussing its inclusion at the talk page to see if some compromise can be worked out to include it. Additionally, it is probably useful to cite a source for the information, particularly on espn.com or something which discusses the rarity of the occurrence. —C.Fred (talk) 03:43, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I checked. Of the four people identifiable who removed the trivia, only one lists him/herself as a Stanford alum. (One Cornell, and I forget what the other one was. The user in question had requested his page deleted as per right-to-vanish back in early October, and I've gotten a lot of grief for trying argue that this is indeed allowed on Wikipedia.

- Yea. I had a username, but stopped using it. If I ever feel the need to do something an anon editor can't do, I sign in again. Otherwise I prefer my anonymity, and I only edit when I stumble across a glaring mistake while reading articles. I also like that being anonymous more or less exempts you from WP:CIVIL, or at least from the pussyfooting that is often assumed to be the meaning of wp:civil. I mean, the comment I made above would likely have resulted in at least a reminder to a registered user to be civil, but it rarely does to anons. oh well. take care.
Oh, and the lack of edit summaries is cause I'm lazy and its easier to just hit submit when I do little shit that is unlikely to be questioned when it's reviewed (like the edit you pointed to, who'll worry about me adding a wikilink to xbox360? i only use edit summaries when i do something that looks bad, like I did when i removed the willy loman wl.

vandalism?
Hi,
Based on the contents of User talk:206.48.0.60 it appears that you once blocked that user. You also seem to have reverted some earlier silliness by that person on Arawak.
I dunno if you noticed, but today he/she did some more silliness to that page and its talk page, then reverted his/her own edits on the article. The funkiness on the talk page is still there.
Is this considered vandalism? Seems to skate on the edge of the definition IMO.

open hostility is good
I think that expressing my true opinions on other people's talk pages is an effective method to actually prevent them from vandalizing because the next time they do, then you know, I'm gonna blast again. I know people frown upon it because it isn't very polite, but everyone's thinking the same thing. Honestly, if everyone in the world read that article and we took a poll to see how many people enjoyed it, the numbers would be overwhelming. I mean, I was indeed a vandal myself, and would have appreciated the constructive attacks that I so frequently hand out. So in reality, I'm doing them a favor. Think of it as accelerated reform. ps nice user page, very classyWi-king 08:06, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

- Uh... why does it belong to the community, if it's "my" page?? And how exactly does the community profit by me keeping those warnings and loads of stuff you posted there cluttering it? I can't understand. It's nice that there are people here in Wikipedia as helpful as you in fighting vandalism, but sincerely, you're picking on me a bit too much. Thanks for the Welcome. You sent it to me already on 21:46, 3 September 2006 however, I like to keep my Talk page simple and clean and therefore I intend to remove it. I hope it's OK with you. By the way, it is not OK to revert changes made by myself to my own Talk page, as you did originally. Please read the "user's own Talk page exception" Poeticbent 17:15, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- Regarding user talk pages, it is best to not delete notices on talk pages, but instead, to archive them. You will find how to do this here [3], under "When pages get too long." Actively erasing non-harassing personal messages is often interpreted as hostile. In the past, this kind of behavior has been viewed as uncivil. This can become an issue in arbitration or other formal proceedings. For this reason, if your deletion of notices and concerns on your user talk page is to keep the "clutter" down, I suggest that you instead create archives for these messages. I would be happy to help you do just that if you ask me to. Best, Kukini 19:07, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks Kukini, I appreciate you offer to help out with something I don't want. As stated clearly in Wikipedia Types of vandalism with regards to this matter: "The above does not apply to the user's own Talk page, where this policy does not itself prohibit the removal... of comments at the user's discretion."
I'd like to close this subject now by giving you my rationale for wanting to keep my Talk page clean of junk and stuff that is redundant. I found out months ago that the content of my Talk page is being picked up by Google as a quasi article which it is not. I do not want my Talk page to become resourced by search engines. Please respect my wish.
You can always access my Talk page history for your own inquisitive pleasure. It is not being picked up by the search engines.
