Signpost
[edit]Have you considered having a poetry section in The Signpost? It could be an engaging thing for editors. Kind regards, Cesdeva (talk) 16:33, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- Cesdeva, please make your suggestion at Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Newsroom/Suggestions. It will be discussed by the editorial team. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:49, 2 June 2018 (UTC)

Edit War
[edit]Hi Kudpung, I didn't want to take it to the noticeboard, but there is a wee edit war going on here:Edinburgh Central (Scottish Parliament constituency). The IP editor seems quite belligerent. It was on my watchlist. Can you please expedite. Thanks. scope_creep (talk) 22:01, 3 June 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Kudpung, could you please extend the protections you put on the Edinburgh Central article to the Edinburgh Southern (Scottish Parliament constituency) article as well while the edit war is sorted out. I gave up on the edit-warring and asked the IP user to discuss the matter with me on one of the talk pages or on my user talk page but unfortunately, he's willfully ignored me and the established consensus on the Edinburgh Central talk page. Cheers, Brythones (talk) 00:51, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- Done. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:37, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- This is not true. I did engage with the user when he engaged on the talk page. Kudpung, if you check EVERY other Scottish Parliament constituency article, they all use the constituency Infobox as the areas covered are constituencies and not settlements. This leads to inconsistency across the Scottish Parliament constituency articles. I don't see why these two are special to be treated differently, especially with data which is irrelevant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.32.116.24 (talk) 15:00, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

Apprentice admin?
[edit]What do you think of this? It sounds eminently reasonable to me, but I haven't thought about it as much as you have. ☆ Bri (talk) 20:58, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not in favour. See my comment. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:31, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Kudpung, and also @Richie333 what would your opinions be on a user applying for an admin 'trial run' via RfA (e.g. RfA candidates choosing this option would still need to demonstrate trustworthiness and competence, but would only be applying for a few months trial run with the admin tools, after which they would undertake a second RfA for permanent adminship). One of the issues with Adminship is that it isn't particularly easy to demonstrate competence with the tools unless you have the tools. This might be an option that reduces the risk of rogue admins, and at the same time let the community be a be less conservative and appoint more admins (given that the candidate isn't asking for a lifetime appointment in the first RfA), and at the same time this will give more options to candidates wishing to apply. I'm happy to be a guinea pig if you guys want. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 22:33, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- interesting idea. Could be done without changing the rules. Just say I'm applying for Admin for a trial run of x months and will stand for RfA again. Legacypac (talk) 22:53, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- The best place to talk about this is at the current conversation at Wikipedia_talk:Requests_for_adminship#Adminship_with_time_limits. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 23:16, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks, I have posted there. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 00:22, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
Re: arb case statement
[edit]I suppose it wouldn't be worth asking you what is this evidence of a pattern of misusing admin tools? At any rate, I believe in John Cline's statement, he was referring to the community as "her concerns," like a ship or something. Andrevan@ 01:01, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
- Andrevan, no, because if you read it again, you will understand that I have worded my commnent as neutrally as possible. To avoid any further misunderstanding, please address my, and possible other users' comments on the case page. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:04, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
Gender
[edit]For what it's worth, I believe John Cline was personifying "the community" as female, not Andrevan. Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 01:43, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. On rereading it, you are of course right. That said however, with all due respect for his work, Johns's style has always been some what complex - maybe due to his mastery of complex guitar riffs :) My bad and disgrace as a professional linguist for not having noticed. Image discussion at WT:WPSCH/AG
[edit]I've intentionally not commented as I was planning on closing it in a couple days (9 June). It's gotten active again, and I already closed the section added as TLDR/specific content dispute that belongs on a talk page. It seems there is a strong consensus that generally images don't belong in alumni sections and a slightly less strong consensus that the guidelines do not need to change as in general terms they already prohibit it. We'll see what the new guy adds. John from Idegon (talk) 06:03, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
- My apologies if I jumped the gun by removing the alumni images form the three articles mentioned in the thread. Meters (talk) 06:08, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
- Meters, I don't think you jumped the gun at all. We do ot normally put photos on alumni on school pages. If there is a separate list of alumni on an alumni main page, that would be different as in the case, for example, of Malvern College. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:45, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. Meters (talk) 06:47, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Meters and John from Idegon: I have tagged the article for COI and warned the user. They have used expressions in discussion such as 'our school'. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:00, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

I suspected that. Sorry, I got tied up with SSDD junk at WER. I'll sharpen my axe and take a look at the article. John from Idegon (talk) 07:47, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

Odd situation
[edit]I got a message the other day from Fatcat2. He didn't give me enough info to answer him, so I pinged him to alert him. Since he hadn't replied, I tried to leave him a message on his talk just now, only to discover his talk was redirected to another user's talk. Page log for his userpage is here. A usurp that wasn't handled correctly? So should I just take the redirect off the talk page, or is there a bigger issue? John from Idegon (talk) 06:48, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- John from Idegon, The redirect was made by user:Maire. (https://xtools.wmflabs.org/ec/en.wikipedia.org/Maire) who rarely edits and doesn't have any special rights. . There's something odd going on. I don't think it was a rename or a usurp. Try asking him what he's playing at first. AgF - there might be a logical explanation, but if there is, I sure can't figure it out. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:43, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- Maire is an admin on Commons, also a global renamer. Their edit history shows a bunch of similar page moves for other enwp users but I don't see where the requests were made. ☆ Bri (talk) 15:24, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
What some people try ...
[edit]... to get away with at AFD in the midst of summer. Good riddance to that cowboy. (I am afraid he actually thought he had done a decent BEFORE, which just makes things worse, I guess.) It is fortunate that Bilby noticed, and restored the page an hour later. Sam Sailor 17:55, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Lost feature
[edit]Good day. Do you know what happened to the "find-and-replace" feature? It is previously found at the upper right corner of the editing box. I usually use that feature before, but it just disappeared a few days ago. Thanks! Babymissfortune 07:20, 9 June 2018 (UTC)

Question about email regarding Timeline.Watch
[edit]Hello. Thanks for clarifying that I should respond on your talk page. I am glad to respond to you here; I sent you an email because I was directed to do so by the notification I received.
In your response to my email, you said that you had not edited the article on Timeline.watch, which I had already acknowledged in my email to you. However, something generated the email that I received from the Wikipedia Notification System, and I thought it worth checking with you. Here are the first few paragraphs of the text:
Dear JamesKramer2018,
The Wikipedia page Timeline.Watch has been changed on 30 May 2018 by Kudpung, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline.Watch for the current revision.
Editor's summary: -
Contact the editor: mail: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:EmailUser/Kudpung wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kudpung
Since you didn't make changes to the Timeline.watch page, is it worth checking to see how this email was generated?
James Kramer (talk) 19:25, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) Kudpung reviewed the article, but did not edit it. The email wording could be better, but the review is what caused the email to be sent. — JJMC89 (T·C) 02:40, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

Need help with a German translation
[edit]Hi there! I noticed your name was listed on Wikipedia:Translators available, and I'd like to ask for help with a German translation. I'm about to start working on the 99 Luftballons, a defining song of the 1980s. It's a German song, and while google translate has been useful for German sources, I've come across a short radio interview conducted by Westdeutscher Rundfunk. The interview is two paragraphs in and is a little over 4 minutes. Hopefully this is the right place to ask, and of course, thank you in advance! Famous Hobo (talk) 23:37, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Famous Hobo, you probably couldn't have chosen a better person to ask! I was intimately concerned with the recording of that song. I knew Rolff Brendl the drummer particularly well. I will take a look later today. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:56, 27 June 2018 (UTC)

Ways to improve Demetrios Zamboglou
[edit]Hi Kudpung กุดผึ้ง Thanks for your message.
I assure that there is no association of mine with the subject and I dont even understand what it means. I like to read and write a lot of about blockchain. That is how i got the idea of contributing to Wikipedia and I have been learning and enjoying it.
As this is my first page creation, I will try to improve the grammar and tone of the page.
Let me know if I can get any help improving it.
