Use of urls in citations

[edit]

Hello Kroberts73,

I have some comments on your bibliography at Talk:Oasis effect:

  • Please don't put blank space before any line in your post. It makes the whole thing come out in ugly, typewriter font. (Unless you want that font, to show computer code, and things like that.)
  • Please see WP:LINK for how to create links on Wikipedia. For example, your doaj link above could be written like this: Remote Sensing.
  • Please look at the citation templates, starting with {{citation}}, and including {{cite journal}}, {{cite book}} and the others.
    • Example: Your Saaroni reference above could be coded like this:
    {{cite journal |journal=Journal of Arid Environments |last1=Saaroni |first1=Hadas |last2=Bitan |first2=Arieh |last3=Ben Dor |first3=Eyal |last4=Feller |first4=Noa |last-author-amp=yes |title=The mixed results concerning the ‘oasis effect’ in a rural settlement in the Negev Desert, Israel |url=https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jaridenv.2003.08.010 |publisher=[[Elsevier]] |issn=0140-1963 |date=July 2004 |volume=58 |issue=2 |pages=235-248 |doi=10.1016/j.jaridenv.2003.08.010 |access-date=13 September 2018 }} – Note: you forgot to include the title of the article in your version; I've added it here.
And it would come out like this:
Saaroni, Hadas; Bitan, Arieh; Ben Dor, Eyal; Feller, Noa (July 2004). "The mixed results concerning the 'oasis effect' in a rural settlement in the Negev Desert, Israel". Journal of Arid Environments. 58 (2). Elsevier: 235–248. doi:10.1016/j.jaridenv.2003.08.010. ISSN 0140-1963. Retrieved 13 September 2018. {{cite journal}}: Unknown parameter |last-author-amp= ignored (|name-list-style= suggested) (help)
  • Never use a url that is local to your university and requires a login there. Pretty much any url with gatech.edu in it is useless, as nobody else can see it. Since Verifiability is a core policy at Wikipedia, please use doi or JStor stable urls to support assertions you make in the article. Check with your professor, but I believe they prefer doi.

Best of luck! Mathglot (talk) 02:37, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

your changes to oasis effect

[edit]

Hi there and thank you for your contributions. I would, however, very much appreciate if you somehow managed to retain a few sentences referring to vegetation cover and micro/mesoclimate. Since you have completely overwritten the first paragraph, they have now - unfortunately - vanished. I would consider this level of details even more appropriate now that you've fleshed out the entire article. -- Kku (talk) 19:05, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
