Privet, fellow expat. Как поживаешь? --Strannik 00:23, 22 May 2005 (UTC)

Здорово. :) Хорошо живу, спасибо. Только я не эксперт, я скорее любитель-энтузиаст :) --Koveras 11:01, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Не expert,а expat. Согласись, есть раздница ;) --Strannik 15:25, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Согласился. %) Ты бы сразу линк давал, а то я в латыни не очень шарю. :) --Koveras 15:44, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Privet- Thanks for the Strugatsky bibliography info. Do you have publication dates for those? I couldn't find realiable info (usually saw a confusion of American/English/original publication dates). And my Russian isn't all that good. --Staecker 14:31, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

Well, it's a kind of difficult task... There is this bibliography (in Russian) and there is also this old (Russian) echo-conference which contains a list of the titles published in English (somewhere in the middle of the page) and also some dates... I dunno whether that'll help, because currently I am not really sure I can handle this. I'm more used to writing about planets rather than composing biliographies, you see... :-( --Koveras 15:02, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

I am really against putting information about nonreleased computer games into a dozen of aricles. This is called spamming. Especially bearing in mind that the guys fall seriosuly behind their promises about game release date. I am pretty sure that they release it eventually, but until then I see no reason to help them spreading the word how good they are. There are millions of software development around the globe. Many of them will be flop. Wikipedia is neither crystal ball nor wikinews. When the game be released and prove worth its buck, then welcome here. Until now it is spam. mikka (t) 16:15, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ok, bascially, you discourage any hopes for future games... Very well, we'll wait until the release and see whether Stalker was "worth a buck" (if that's the only criteria of a game). :) --Koveras 19:24, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Minor Personalities of Noon Universe

Do you think we should add all the "failed progressors" mentioned in Hard to be God to the Minor Personalities of Noon Universe section? What about Колдун (he appeared in more then one book). And, while we're on the topic, have you already created a bio for the main character in Noon, 22nd Century? --Strannik 16:59, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

Well, we could add the progressors, but we don't know anything about them except the names and the circumstances of their failure... So I'd say we add them either to the Progressors or Arkanar. And I don't really remember who was the Wizard, sorry... Can you remind me? :-) Uh, who exactly is the main character of N22C? I wasn't really sure in this... --Koveras 19:46, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
"Wizard" is a character from Inhabited Island. He made a cameo apperance in Волны Гасят Ветер (I think). I haven't read N22C, so I don't know who the main character is. Кстати, thanks for giving me credit for my part in creating "the largest Noon Universe source on the net" --Strannik 15:22, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, I haven't read ВГВ. :( And N22C primarily tells some stories about life of Gorbosky, Komov (and his childhood friends) and the two space explorers from SS "Taimyr". The latter appear only in N22C, so I haven't really considered them when writing the article... And you welcome about that. %) I mean, you've contributed quite a lot to the articles, adding many important points I've missed out. And another thing: right now, this is the largest source about Noon Universe, about two times bigger than that on Eressea (second largest). --Koveras 18:12, 15 July 2005 (UTC)

Noon template

Koveras- Very nice job on the Noon books template. I added "the" before "Strugatsky brothers", since that should be there. I've changed that in a few articles, too, although maybe I missed some. I actually prefer "Boris and Arkady Strugatsky", since these guys are quite obscure to English audiences. I know that they're refered to as Strugatski brothers in Russian, but I don't think it's appropriate here. A phrase like "-- brothers" is usually reserved for people who are very well known. Since the Strugatsky brothers aren't well known in English, I think we should use "Boris and Arkady" whenever possible.

Also- is your title "A Guy from the Purgatory" your own translation? I don't know this book, but I doubt that this is a good title for it. We don't use "the" before "Purgatory" (or Heaven or Hell), and "A Guy" seems very informal, although perhaps that is intentional. I don't really know the connotations of the word "Парень".

Great job, in any case. Now I just wish I could get my hands on some of these books. Strange to be working on Noon at WP when I've only read two of them. --Staecker 13:11, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. :) I was really pleased to hear that...
About "Strugatsky brothers". The only reason I use this form of referring to them, is that it's shorter to write. ^^ If anyone volounteers to change all "Strugatsky brothers" links to "Boris and Arkady Strugatsky" ones, I won't mind. Oh btw, Russian fans usually call them "Arkady and Boris Strugatsky" (for short - "ABS"). :)
"A Guy from the Purgatory" is not my translation, it was there already when I registered. :) I don't think it very hard to correct the articles, and "guy" is quite appropriate word for "парень" IMO. Other translations include: "boy", "chap", "fellow", "kid", "lad", and "bloke". The story is about an adult man, so "boy", "kid", "lad" and maybe "chap" won't do. We're left with "fellow", "guy", and "bloke". "Guy" is just the most neutral, it seems. :) --Koveras 12:10, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
Okay- I'll make some changes. --Staecker 12:36, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

Image:Loi de bragg.png

Hello,

the Bragg's law tells at which angles there is a maximum of intensity; the n in the formula shows that there can be several angles.

Additionally, there is no reason why the rays should be symmetric compared to the plane of the sample, e.g. Debye-Scherrer camera. The symmetry is only in the specific case of the Bragg-Brentano geometry, which is interesting because it allows the colection of more intensity (parafocussing, see the geometrical law), but other geometries are possible.

Category

Sorry! I was fooling around with some formatting and forgot they were there, than I didn't see your first message. I hope everything is in order now. Best, Tom Harrison (talk) 12:14, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your cooperation. :) --Koveras 13:47, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi Koveras- I'm not sure how much you know about this, but there's been some confusion about the actual Russian title of this Strugatsky book. I think you could probably help clear things up over at Talk:Stalker (novel). Thanks- Staecker 14:13, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Sure, I'm on it. :) --Koveras 17:35, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Bundesland-level categories

Hello! I see you are listed in Category:Wikipedians in Germany. I have made subcategories for each Bundesland in case you would like to add yourself to the appropriate one. See Category:Wikipedians in Germany for a list of the subcategories (they use the English names, the same as their Wikipedia articles). --Angr (tɔk) 16:01, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Bypassing Redirects

Hi, I only found this out today myself but according to the guidelines, there is no need to bypass redirects unless it is due to a spelling error or a disambiguation page. The amount of processing power needed to edit the page far out-weighs the miniscule amount used processing what is essentially an extra couple of lines of code in the MediaWiki code. Just so you know. -Localzuk (talk) 18:20, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Gee, and i was already half-way through... %) I just followed what I've been asked on the talk page. Anyway, thanks for saving me some time. ^__^ --Koveras 18:24, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi, please turn this gallery into a list of links instead (or whatever) as soon as possible. Wikipedia policy doesn't allow fair use images to be displayed in userspace (see Wikipedia:Fair use#Fair use policy), and acording to this report you have 42 of them on that page. I'm working pretty much at random off that list, so don't feel singled out if others on the list with more images have not yet been notified. Eventualy I'll get around to them all (though hopefully I'm not the only one working on it). Thanks in advance. --Sherool (talk) 20:28, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

No problem. --Koveras 11:05, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

The Elder Scrolls

Sorry about the edits. I thought it'll be better if the categories are more broader and covers all of The Elder Scrolls series, not just Morrowind. eg The Elder Scrolls organizations instead of Great Houses of Vvardenfell, The Elder Scrolls creatures instead Creatures of Vvardenfell, since I played the previous games and they're not unique to Morrowind. Also I don't like usage of the term "Vvardenfell", since it's only part of Morrowind and does include contents in the expansion Tribunal andd Bloodmoon, plus "Morrowind" is a much more commonly used term.

Sure, but Nix Hounds and Silt Striders are native to Morrowind, after all. :) I've never seen them in Daggerfall, for example. Anyway, the idea with the TES organizations category was good. I wanted to set one up myself, but somehow forgot to... --Koveras 07:08, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Strugatsky

Hello, I see you do a lot of work on Strugatsky universe, and kudos to you for that! I just thought that it would be helpful to start Category:Boris and Arkady Strugatsky and to put there all their books, characters, and other related stuff. You may want to take a look at Category:Leo Tolstoy to see how it works. Also, come check Portal:Russia/New article announcements and Portal:Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board. Happy edits, Ghirla | talk 18:41, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Well, in fact, there is something similar on the russian Wikipedia (ru:Категория:Миры Стругацких), and I guess, that'll be OK... The point is, I haven't read a lot of books by them other than those about the Noon Universe. :) But I'll try. --Koveras 18:47, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
As it turned out, there aren't many articles in the category... The most of them are already included in the Noon Universe category. --Koveras 19:31, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

I re-includeonlied the Elder Scroll templates

And I put my reasoning on my user talk page, but figured I should mention it here to make sure you saw it and didn't think I was just pointlessly edit warring. The includeonlied sort key was clever, but the categories it was putting the templates into are article categories. Templates aren't articles, they're just pieces of articles and not something the reader needs to see in isolation. Also, I just checked a random sampling of the categories the templates were being put into and there are links to the templates included so an editor can still reach them easily enough. Bryan 16:58, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Sure, No problem. :) JovBlackheart 14:18, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. You see, I just want the TES articles be as organized as possible. :) --Koveras 18:04, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

So Sorry

I did it because it looked a little clutteered to me --SGCommand (talkcontribs) 13:06, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Never mind, I've had enough time to consider your proposal again and decided that you were right, after all. :) So, it's actually me who should be sorry for being too conservative... --Koveras 15:35, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

akimbo

taxi driver is very related to akimbo. in several parts of the movie, the main character sports two guns of relatively the same style. check this site out: http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/148/1050~Taxi-Driver-Posters.jpg ...also to be noted is how he pretty much makes a d.i.y. gun quick-draw technology (similar to akimbo reloading techniques). that's my argument for its relevance to akimbo, ans since this was in 1976, i guess at the very least its relevant in a historical context.

-verbose

Oh, sorry, now I see. :) Well, in this case, you should have left a short comment explaining what you've just explained to me - 'cuz some people haven't watched any films that are that old (like me, for example). :) --Koveras 11:04, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Hello

Hello, Koveras. The Stars Are Cold Toys.

:( --Koveras 14:20, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Ok :) ellol 16:39, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Your question on article April Ryan.

-- Ste4k 19:55, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

You mean the part on the personality and character development? Geez, why make so much fuss about it? %) As for the rest, you don't mark the List of Stargate SG-1 episodes unsourced, do you? ^^ --Koveras 07:09, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
I normally only mark articles that I see. I came across that article because of doing a disambiguity routine. Please see [1] about how I found it. Please try and find some reviews for it, okay? Ste4k 19:46, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Images in sigs

Are you aware that the signature guideline recomends against having images in your signature? It can make image maintenance difficult too.
brenneman {L} 10:20, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Fine, whatever. :) When I customized my sig, this regulation was not there yet. %) --Koveras 10:25, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Aye, and I initially railed against it as petty and pointless... But eventually the image police came up with a decent argument, so I switched sides. - brenneman {L} 10:29, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Hey, chill, I'm cool now. :) See. --Koveras 10:31, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

I'd just like to say thanks for doing the references properly. I spent a few hours trying to work out how to do this last night with previews, but I ended up just making a mess of the page, so figured I should do it that way, hoping someone would come along and make it all better. So thanks for doing that for me. I think I can learn how to do it properly now, having read the changes. --Dreaded Walrus 14:20, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

No problem, colleague, it took me a while to learn the refs myself. %) --Koveras 15:15, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
