Great! I think you're right about the history - it is very bloated. Don't worry about keeping the data - all our old versions are available in the page's history. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 01:12, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

3D Gaius, I've gone through the page and you've done a swell job with the copyediting! It looks so much neater and more readable now. I've done some minor editing for grammar, punctuation, style, etc and added in some wikilinks (meaning links like these.) I think what we have is ready to be moved into mainspace, with the incomplete stuff to be added later.

Re the conference material you shared - that's a massive trove and clearly very helpful. It will take time and energy to process though, because it's all in video form. I think we should proceed with our plan to move stuff into mainspace soon, and then supplement it with the video material as and when we're able to process it. Yo A, made a new account as I couldn't for the life of me work out what the old one's password was. I've been thinking: maybe it would be a productive avenue to organise and present groups which uncontroversially regard themselves as 'doing Comparative Legal History'? Comparative legal history in non-Western cultures and other time periods

DJAccursius, I'm finding it difficult to locate comparative legal history in other cultures and time periods. From what I can see, where there is legal pluralism, there is legal comparison. But comparative legal history requires another dimension - comparing legal systems across time. So far I haven't lucked out on anything that says that... Hmm, a problem. We might have to conclude that as a separate discpline it has only emerged recently, though elements of what constitutes 'CLH' can be found in various other discplines throughout time. Surprisingly, I've just discovered that Ancient Law by Henry Maine does a comparison of ancient Hindu law and the Roman law of property (and probably other things too). I'm surprised that it hasn't popped up in any of the articles I've read so far. Ibbetson mentions it, but merely as a reference to Maine's methodology. • there's what seems to be an excellent book that I can't access because it's a legal deposit... I might have to leave reading and incorporating that one to you. Or alternatively, if you can find a way to get hold of it and share the important chapters, I'm happy to split the reading with you. This is the book: [1].

Useful/important material

• Reading lists as suggested by Professor Sharafi: [2]. Seems thoroughly academic, and I'm slightly concerned that we'll have to draw out conclusions on our own, which may fall foul of WP:NOR. It's not clear in my head yet... I'm seeing potential in legal articles for filling in the gaps we're finding. The reading list she's suggested would probably involve some substantive comparisons; building a basic block of legal-historical comparison in South Asia. Helpfully, Professor Sharafi advocates comparisons that go beyond national borders. This could be an interesting complement to the European comparative legal history project, preventing it from falling into the same myopia as national legal histories.
