Another One Bites The Dust
[edit]You've made a legitimate nomination. My concern has been that some people will simply glance at the titles and think that it was a "cover" version, but the Wyclef Jean song is like a lot of "rap versions" of 1970s and 1980s hits, with additional lyrics. Ideeally, "Merge" would be the best solution, although some fans of both artists would probably look at that as heresy (in other words, a Queen fan might edit out the reference, or a Wyclef Jean fan would do another spinoff article). Unlike Weird Al's "Another One Rides The Bus", the Wyclef Jean song was a hit in its own right. To sum up, I disagree with deleting the article, but I think it's good that you brought the subject up for discussion. Mandsford (talk) 16:10, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'll post my reply under here rather than cluttering things up with a new header....
- I did read the guideline, and I do believe it is notable. It says "Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts [...] are probably notable." This song, as the remix, has ranked on two national top ten lists, and was the artist's third song to have done so. This song, as the remix, also appeared in a notable film. We have sources to verify that information, so it has and demonstrates notability outside of the original Queen version.
- Thanks - I retake it every now and then, but since they keep trimming the test down, my score keeps getting lower. It's kind of odd. Hersfold (t/a/c) 19:15, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Re: Hey
[edit]I was born in 1966 and The Beatles were my favourite band until I was 10 when I was also member of the Beatlemania fan club. I know enough well their story and recordings. Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's, The White Album and Abbey Road are great albums. Currently, they are not in my favourite subjects or in my watchlist. —PJoe F. (talk • contribs) 21:05, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
P.S.: Hey! I liked your user page especially for the userbox with “ideal system of government, in theory.” But the theory must become action/practice. I saw you are a member of The Beatles WP. I must pay something to that project because I created the Clash WP with most of the material cribbed from Pink Floyd and Beatles WikiProjects. Major thanks to all of them! —PJoe F. Here are a couple of links that might be interesting to you: YT playlist with Abbey Road, Revolver, White Album, Help! and Love; YT playlist with Yellow Submarine and A Hard Days Night. —PJoe F. (talk • contribs) 08:45, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Andreasegde's page
[edit]Hi Kodster, I was eyewiggin his page an saw your messages. To add your name just click on "Wikiproject The Beatles", on the template on your user page and sign your name under "Active participants" - I'm sure he'll deal with your other questions when he gets back from the Pub! Alright for some eh? Cheers! Vera, Chuck & Dave (talk) 21:35, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Just to show how great we are at Wikiproject The Beatles, Vera, Chuck & Dave spotted your request and answered it for me (what a nice person). Follow Vera's instructions on the links above, and a big welcome to the project. If you need any help at all, just leave a message on my page (which Vera may answer) or one on his page (which I may answer :))--andreasegde (talk) 23:25, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ah-hah, I have just loked at the participants page and you are on it. You put your name at the top, above Kingboyk's, who is a founder member, so I respectfully placed it at the bottom of the participants list. It doesn't mean you are not worth anything, but means that you are a new member, which is much better than us old cronies. We look forward to your contributions. :)--andreasegde (talk) 23:29, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Someone new?
[edit]I saw your comments on Sexybabe10's page and I have to ask you this: are you related to sixstring? Hmmm...--andreasegde (talk) 12:29, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Speaking of which, let me make my position very clear. I will not, under any circumstances, communicate with any user that asks female users on Wikipedia if they have a tight cunt. OK? Vera, Chuck & Dave (talk) 16:18, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed.--andreasegde (talk) 16:32, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Guys... While I agree with you, see [1] ... Kodster was warned and asked to remove the comment, Kodster did remove it and did so voluntarily on first being asked. As is allowed within policy, Kodster then removed the topic completely. You guys may not have seen that. I hope Kodster leaves this thread long enough so you can see that it's been handled (this is why although it's within policy to remove things, it can be a bad practice, because it leads to confusion and duplication)... ++Lar: t/c 20:17, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- This is the Kodster. As Lar stated, I voluntarily removed the comment. I am ashamed of my actions, and ask for your forgiveness in this matter. My behavior was uncalled for and inappropriate. It will not recur in the future. Thank you. And no, I am not acquainted with or affiliated with a "sixstring." I am not certain as to who he/she is, but I do not know any such sixstring, having been here for such a short while. Thanks. 71.187.235.48 (talk) 01:02, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Why do I not believe you, Kodster? You say that you have studied the manuals, but you don't know about references, hmmmm... that doesn't make sense. Let me explain:
- New users do not post so often. You sound/read like a seasoned user.
- You push when you should ask = pushing for an answer. This is not usual.
- During your first few days, you post a sexual comment that is not acceptable, or stable.
- I know the meaning of the words "kidding", "codding", "mocker", and Kodak, and the mix of them. (Bob Gruen?)
- If you are who you say you are (Kodster) then I wish you the best, but if this is sixstring again, I would suggest going back to the beginning and editing with a low profile. I don't mind you being here, but keep your head down, and be nice. OK?--andreasegde (talk) 15:23, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit]- Start with this: (it’s better to copy it to WinWord and then fill it out before putting it on Wiki)
- Then add a name; any name will do, but it’s good to make it relevant. Add the name of the writer. If there is no writer’s name just leave it empty.
- Add the webpage address and the title at the top of the webpage.
- Add the publisher's name and the date it was published. If there is no date, you will have to delete the section, like this:
- Put the date you accessed it. (It’s American, so it’s year, month and day…)
- If you want to use the same page for a second reference, use this:
- (Don't forget the forward slash...)
- That’s it.
- If it's a book, just copy the style from one of the other pages.--andreasegde (talk) 11:16, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
P.S., I wil do the first one on the Hard Day's Night page so you can see what I mean...--andreasegde (talk) 11:20, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Someone will come along at some point and delete The Beatles photo from your main page, as it's not allowed. Don't ask me why, but it isn't. It has happened quite often before.--andreasegde (talk) 13:29, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
