[edit]What is WIKI-RP?
[edit]Welcome to WIKI-RP! Its a fun format to add some flare, humor, and in some cases SOMETHING to the user-page to track one's "adventures" in editing. To play just put up your stats and adventure log on your user page or on your own personal site somewhere. If you decide to play, please contact user:Knowledge Incarnate, the DM, for the latest rules and add your name to the list of Wiki RP players. We cannot put up an article about Wiki RP or any material related to it on Wikipedia until it has some significant support (there is ongoing discussion as to if this sort of fun format is even acceptable on the user-page at all), but you are welcome to post the rules on your own blog or website to encourage people to play regardless.
Wiki RP is a text based RPG-like format for user pages invented by Wikipedian, user:Knowledge Incarnate. The game follows one's wikipedia editing experience as if it were a typical D20 roleplay game. The goal of the game is to become a Level 50 Epic Wikipedian Sage of the Ages and have fun with the user pages. Wiki RP is NOT an actual MMO RPG. Its a joke game. Do not SPAM people claiming it is an MMO!!!! Players are encouraged to post the following box into their user page:
This user is playing WIKI RP on their user page and invites you to add an event to the RP log! | WIKI-RP |
Other styles available and invitation boxes further down the page.
Rules
[edit]The rules are not enforced and may change as people edit the rules page.
Edits to the rules should be made to advance game play rather then for lulz alone.
Edits to actual articles must be PROFESSIONAL to count. If an admin nixes your post you lose those exp points.
Your adventures also add to your exp so write liberally! For an example of how a game should go, please see user:Knowledge Incarnate's RP log.
All players start as a Level 1 Wikipedian with 13 copper pieces and a Tabard of Knowledge.
Experience points are gained for each edit you make based on the positive scores on the watchlist. Only entries the player has made can count towards experience.
Additional items and spells can be learned as the game progresses based on how one wishes to roleplay their Wiki editing experience. For example, you might update the article Tavern and spend 30c to stay the night or update Kitchen and earn 50c for washing dishes. Finding a particular article like Fireball might grant you a scroll that teaches you Fireball 1. Use your imagination.
REMEMBER: Wikipedia itself is NOT A GAME
[edit]Wikipedians take pride in their article editing skills and some will downright detest the very idea of a Wiki-RP at all. For those of us who feel there is room for fun and professionalism alike here on Wikipedia, please keep all RP related materials limited to the USER PAGE and DISCUSSION. Only invite those who you feel might be interested in playing. If you were invited here and find this Wiki-RP thing downright crazy please remain civil with your commentary and follow this discussion page's primary rule by putting an OC next to your comment at the bottom of the page.
Interaction
[edit]To interact with players, just update their RP log with your encounter. For example, "Knowl is approached by a Wandering Perelandrian who greets him and offers him some cookies." Then, please be patient and wait for the player to reply. Watch ALL pages and check for updates. You may choose to "echo" the experience on your own log or have two different adventures.
Interaction is STRONGLY encouraged.

Wiki-Races
[edit]- WikiElves and WikiFairies - Normally WikiDragons pay no attention to either of these creatures. Ecologically, many WikiElves and WikiFairies live in a symbiotic relationship with WikiDragons as many subsist entirely off the excrement that WikiDragons (as well as WikiSloths and WikiOgres) leave behind as they chew up and digest articles in their improvement efforts. In short, WikiDragon will build the house in one day then over the next few months, WikiElves will move in, paint it, decorate it and make it all tidy for visitors.
- WikiGiant - Normally, WikiDragons respect the giant size of WikiGiants and let them pass, but every so often a WikiGiant agitates the dragon and they get in a feud.
- WikiGnome - By their nature, one would expect WikiGnomes and WikiDragons to get along quite nicely - in the same vein as the WikiElf and WikiFairy. Alas, with some exceptions, this is rarely the case. The very organized and methodical nature of WikiGnomes and their predisposition for following rules means most WikiGnomes cannot tolerate being around WikiDragons for long. Although usually solitary and passive creatures, WikiGnomes have been known to band together and drive WikiDragons out of Wikipedia.
- WikiGoon - Occasionally a WikiGoon will mistake a WikiDragon for a WikiTroll or some other form of vandal. Confrontations between the two usually results in a standoff with both leaving on their separate ways. But sometimes, when a WikiGoon attacks a young WikiDragon, it can lead to the death of the hatchling, although this is very rare. Occasionally, a WikiGoon will maim a WikiDragon so that the creature has no choice but to transmute into a greater WikiOgre.
- WikiGremlin - The WikiGremlin is the first to sound the alarm that a WikiDragon is in the neighborhood. Many WikiDragon hunters listen for this tell-tale call in their efforts to persecute WikiDragons.
- WikiImp - WikiImps live like ticks on the hide of a WikiDragon. Occasionally, after a tough day or weekend creating new and unusual articles, the WikiDragon will breathe fire on WikiImps until they are lightly toasted (you can tell by the sizzling and popping sounds) before they eat them up as a midnight snack.
- WikiJaguar - While some WikiJaguars come to the defense of WikiDragons, other WikiJaguars love to complain and plot against WikiDragons - often fomenting discord and drumming up dissent- trying to rally WikiGnomes and WikiKnights to go out and slay the WikiDragon.
- WikiKnight - WikiKnights are the sworn enemy of the WikiDragon. It is thought that WikiKnight are the adult version of the WikiImp - perhaps those Imps that survived a WikiDragon's attempt as a toasty snack.
- WikiKraken - The battles between WikiDragons and WikiKrakens are legendary. Mostly for the disgusting squishy sounds made as the WikiDragons munch on WikiSushi. The WikiKraken is one of the WikiDragon's favorite snack foods.
- WikiOgre - WikiDragons often come to the aid of a WikiOgre when hearing its distress call - especially if the Ogre is being overrun by WikiGnomes, WikiImps and WikiKnights. Although when they meet in a random setting, there may be growling and gnashing of teeth, the WikiDragon and WikiOgre are usually civil with one another and share a mutual respect for one another. This is probably because many WikiOgres are injured WikiDragons who lost their ability to breathe fire and fly.
- WikiOtter - It was once thought that the WikiDragon kept Wiki Otters as pets. It also is rumored that despite appearances, WikiOtters and WikiDragons share 99.5% of the same genome - with WikiOtters having a "niceness" gene lacking in the WikiDragon as that slot in the Dragon's DNA is taken up by fire breathing.
- WikiSloth - It is thought that after being killed by a WikiKnight, a WikiDragon returns occasionally to Wikipedia in from the spirit world in the form of a WikiSloth. Thus WikiSloths and WikiDragons get along quite nicely.
- WikiTroll - That crackling sound you hear is a charred WikiTroll after an encounter with a WikiDragon.
- Other WikiDragons - WikiDragons are solitary and rarely meet one another in social - or heaven forbid - a collaborative way. Upon meeting, WikiDragons usually acknowledge one another briefly then move along to fresh pastures. But, a WikiDragon will fight fiercely to help another WikiDragon being attacked needlessly by a WikiKnight or a band of WikiGnomes. But, if a WikiDragon thinks the other deserves the attack, it will watch - and possibly give pointers to the attackers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Knowledge Incarnate (talk • contribs) 06:31, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

DONT DO IT
[edit]Don't publish any pages on wiki about this game until at least 30 people are playing and there are 30 hits that reference its significance on Google. Then maybe we will try again. Until that day, let the following discussions serve as warning to future generations:
Speedy deletion of Tabard of Knowledge
[edit]A tag has been placed on Tabard of Knowledge, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Clubmarx (talk) 04:28, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit]GHO
[edit]I am IC. Re: "how do I move it on my own next time?" Incredible though it may seem, you click on a tab marked "move" which appears at the top of every page.
I have edited GHO (disambiguation) to Wikipedia standards. Disambig pages are to assist navigation within Wikipedia. Red links are not usually allowed and certainly dab pages never have references. Read the advice at the top of the edit page.
When you create external links in other articles, please clothe naked URLs like this.
(And of course please drop this role-playing nonsense before someone stops you on the grounds that Wikipedia is not a free host.) — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 03:31, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- OCC: Thanks for the advice and fixing the spaces on my Wiki-RP boxes. Its just a clever format for the user-page and perhaps a fun aside for certain users (obviously not everyone). However, in light of your suggestion, I will try and make the page look more professional and less like a personal blog. Thanks for your courtesy.
Glyph monster
[edit]How dare you suggest that Image:Heiroglyphs sample British Museum.jpg is an hoax? In all my 2500 years I have never been so insulted. What is worse, your meddling has attracted the attention of an editor who actually knows what he is doing and it looks like my image will be deleted from Wikipedia for ever. [edit](OOC) - Personally, I love it - I'm just wondering how long it will be 'til the "Myspacery Police" come a knockin' (* hint - if they do, let me know so can vote Keep at the relevant MFD page). I may stop back later as an (IC) — Ched ~ (yes?) 08:11, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
