Sex Dolls is Bias because it is outdated as to evolution of the product.

[edit]

Hi there!

I appreciate your message on my talk page and the passion you bring to the subject -- this is what Wikipedia needs to help it grow and be the source of information we all want it to be. People who work on Wikipedia have their own reasons for doing so and engage in the projects they are drawn to. I rarely add content to articles. What I spend the vast majority of my time doing is reverting vandalism and making sure that Wikipedia policies and guidelines are followed throughout the encyclopedia. I came across your edits on the Sex Dolls article because that article is subject to a lot of edits that run afoul of WP guidelines fairly often especially rules again spamming and using WP for promotional purposes. I have absolutely no interest in any of the content of the Sex Dolls article, I am only interested in making sure it, along with all the other articles I come across, conforms to Wikipedia policies and guidelines.

Now I am not suggesting that your edits were malicious only that they do not conform to the Wikipedia guidelines like at WP:ELNO. Specifically point 10 which states to not add "Links to social networking sites (such as Myspace and Facebook), chat or discussion forums/groups (such as Yahoo! Groups), Twitter feeds, Usenet newsgroups or e-mail lists." The forum you linked to appears to violate this point. The e-zine appears to be in violation of the WP:SPAM guideline which states "Adding external links to an article or user page for the purpose of promoting a website or a product is not allowed, and is considered to be spam." This applies even to free sites. Basically what we don't want is for Wikipedia to become a collection of links to fansites or to be a forum for promoting the topics of discussion. Wikipedia is here to provide general information about the subject of an article, not to be a portal to the subject itself.

Finally, if there is an actual content dispute going on here then by all means feel free to improve the article. Just be sure you follow the policies and guidelines. This means using reliable sources, secondary sources, following rules for notability, understanding what is undue weight and so on.

If you have any more questions or comments you can reach me at me talk page. And again, I appreciate you wanting to improve the information on Wikipedia and encourage you to do so. Thanks, SQGibbon (talk) 21:49, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 23:04, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
