[edit]

Newspaper article

[edit]

The followning sentence doesn't fit with the rest of the article: "Arbuthnot ended his career in the HEIC as a Colonel. During his retirement he was awarded the honorary rank of Major-General on 31 December, 1861 [3]." That date, and the date of the dissolution of the East India Company, was before his birth.

More about family...

[edit]

Why is he in Burkes, presumably his grandfather (?) was a baronet? --Counter-revolutionary 21:09, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

His great-grandfather was a brother of the 2nd Arbuthnot baronet of Edinburgh which means that his gt gt grandfather was the 1st Baronet. Regards, David Lauder 21:21, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

,and his maternal grandfather was Henry Arthur Blake. --Counter-revolutionary 21:22, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Most impressed. Would you sneer at this family? David Lauder 21:28, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Is "sneer" your favourite word? You use it on every page.--Vintagekits 21:35, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, I use it to adequately describe you and your friends behaviour, thats all. Personally I think it sums it up. David Lauder 08:17, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think its OK to go around breaching WP:NPA and WP:CIVIL like that?--Vintagekits 10:34, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed not, sir, his grandfather was the Governor of Hong Kong. --Counter-revolutionary 21:31, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
........and? Giano 22:31, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
...it's interesting that's all. --Counter-revolutionary 01:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Brilliant!--Vintagekits 01:15, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I suggest that David Lauder and Vintagekits both stop commenting here, as further comment is fruitless and has no bearing on this article. Further comment on the subject is here [5] Giano 10:43, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
