Welcome to my talk page, feel free to leave me a message.
I'd like to apologise in advance if I don't respond quickly. I'm not ignoring you, it's just that due to a large degree of "brain fog", I tend to find it difficult to form coherent replies. Messages that only need me to recall facts, find links, etc. will probably be answered quite quickly. Messages that require some sort of personal interaction are more likely to have delayed answers. But don't let that put you off: I do read all of my messages promptly, and I will answer them eventually. So, sorry if it takes me a while to get back to you.
Welcome!

Hi Kitty
[edit]Hi Kitty, fancy seeing you here! ;) Caught your edits while on RC patrol, though I'd say hi. Jude(talk, contribs) 08:47, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Children's books
[edit]Howdy! Thanks for starting the articles for various children's books. Would you mind using {{child-book-stub}} or {{child-novel-stub}} when possible? It would help the stub sorters no end. Cheers! Her Pegship (tis herself) 17:20, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]Didn't expect to see you around here, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Happy editing on AF articles. We need some of the articles related to the newer books updated a bit, I think. A little proofreading here and there, and mostly just more details. justice 18:29, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- Replied here.
Hello Again!
[edit]Without meaning to drag out the theme of topics on your talk page (:P), hello again! I assume you're the same KittyRainbow from the Foodwagon (Maddigan's Quest) - it seems our paths cross again ;). Regards, TheIslander 16:43, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- I am indeed that same Kitty Rainbow! Hello. :) Judging by the articles you've been editing, I'd say our paths are going to cross fairly often in the future too, heh. -- KittyRainbow (talk) 09:10, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]Are you the same KittyRainbow from ff.net?--CyberGhostface (talk) 21:36, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, that's me. *waves* Hiya! :) -- KittyRainbow (talk) 09:10, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Nice to know you've got a reputation, eh? :) I saw the username and that's what I thought, too. I'm someone completely different on ff.net, though. BunnyFlying (talk) 05:40, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Haha, a reputation? I'm surprised, actually, considering the last time that I posted anything on FFnet was... err, 18th June 2006. *pokes self* (But CGF and I know each other from way back, so that's not really anything to do with reputation...!)
- So, if you're not BunnyFlying on there, what are you called? (If you don't mind me asking.) -- KittyRainbow (talk) 15:03, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- The Wineglass. The Root/Vinyaya shipper with the C2, looking for subscribers and other fics. I dunno why I'm BunnyFlying here and The Wineglass there. I just felt like it. BunnyFlying (talk) 23:31, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Costa Book Awards
[edit]Thanks for your work on children's lit - would you be interested in updating Costa Book Awards before I get a chance? --mervyn (talk) 14:05, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I was actually looking at the Costa Book Awards website yesterday and I completely failed to realise that this year's shortlists had been announced. XD;; Whoops. But, yeah, I'll get started on that now. -- KittyRainbow (talk) 15:03, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Roll Call for WikiProject Artemis Fowl
[edit]Greetings from the Artemis Fowl Project. Your name is listed on our participants page, but we are unsure of how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the Project's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the Project, please add your name to the active list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the current work. On behalf of the Project, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Happy editing, The Artemis Fowl Project Coordinators'. |

Good job on the author's article. Any chance you could give City of Bones the same treatment? At this point it's nothing more than a really long synopsis of the book, more suitable for a book report than an encyclopedia entry. Pairadox (talk) 21:28, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. :) Unfortunately, as I've not read the book yet, it wouldn't really be possible for me to do its article. I do plan to read the book in the future so I'm trying to avoid spoilers which makes it, err, somewhat difficult to read reviews. (Although in the course of my research I did find the original copy of one review from that list on her site ... and also a post on her LiveJournal where she says that Clary is named after a real person, hmm.) Obviously once I have read the book I'll consider going over its article but as there are few resources I can currently read there's not much I can do for it right now. :/ -- KittyRainbow (talk) 23:35, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- LOL By all means, don't ruin the book for yourself! I'm not a good one to clean it up either, and the article will (probably) still be there when you get around to it. I'll throw the refs you list above into an "Additional reading" section for now so they don't get lost. Pairadox (talk) 00:28, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Poo-NicolaDavies NealLayton.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Poo-NicolaDavies NealLayton.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:29, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Stockton Book Awards
[edit]Hello Kitty - you're doing some good work here. I'd like to point out that the author of "Oswald and the End of the World" (shortlisted for the Stockton Prize this year) is not the same Andrew Strong of Commitments fame - thus the link on your page shouldn't be there. He's a fine singer, but shouldn't get the credit for a children's book too. Yawnthepost (talk) 11:12, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi
Wow, fantastic misjudgement of myself in Free Baseball - I prosposed it for deletetion since the existing content, the user's other newly created articles and the seemingly worthless link blinded me. I had never heard of the author or the book before.
Thanks for clearing that up & Cheers, Amalthea (talk) 18:38, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- No worries, no worries; I can see exactly why you prodded it. The author's article is currently at AfD so I happened to have all of the sources at my fingertips anyway. :) (And before the AfD, I'd never heard of the author or book either!) -- KittyRainbow (talk) 19:01, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Artemis Fowl - Cover galleries?
[edit]Hi there, KittyRainbow. I just have an inquiry about cover galleries, such as the one on Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception. I saw that this, which is GA, didn't have a cover gallery. I just wanted your opinion on whether I should remove the cover gallery or not. I first said this on the Opal Deception discussion page, but since there were no replies, I decided to ask you here. If you could reply on the Opal talk page, that would be appreciated. Thanks! IceUnshattered (talk) 15:15, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for drawing my attention to it. For some reason, The Opal Deception article wasn't on my watchlist, so I missed your original message on the talk page. Anyway, I've replied now. :) -- KittyRainbow (talk) 17:22, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Children's Literature
[edit]Hi, since joining the project a few days ago I've noticed that, although a lot of work's being done on articles within the scope of the project, the project itself seems to have fallen into disuse. I'd like to try to find a way to revitalize the project. I don't mean to come of as pretentious, since I am the newest member, I'd just like the project to return to the same level of activity it once enjoyed. I thought that I'd contact some of the recently active contributors before posting at the general talk page, and I'd be very grateful to hear any thoughts you might have on the matter. Perhaps a "roll call" of the general body whould be a good place to start? Aurum ore (talk) 07:00, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
And a million years later, I finally reply...I have to say, the project seems to be neither more nor less active than I've ever known it to be. But I don't see any reason why you shouldn't try and get more activity going on there. And don't worry about being "pretentious" or anything!
- A roll call may well be a good idea. It'd be nice to know which of the members are currently active on Wikipedia—like, do we have an admin within the project at the moment? It's somewhere to start, anyway. -- KittyRainbow (talk) 03:16, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, a reply's a reply so now worries there. I'll alter a template from WP:Novels and try to get a roll call in going in the next week or so. Aurum ore (talk) 02:20, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Interesting. The project's talk page had 3 edits in June, 7 in July in August. So far this month it's had 27 edits by 6 different users. This amounts to the most trafic the page has ever had in a single month. Kind of sad, but encouraging all the same. Aurum ore (talk) 04:13, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- ...I guess people were just waiting to have something to talk about? XD; Hopefully this is the start of good things for the project. -- KittyRainbow (talk) 04:24, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed (all in all we ended up with 43 edits in September, hopefully we can keep up that level of activity in the months to come). Aurum ore (talk) 23:50, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Article details
[edit]Hey, I noticed when we were discussing the proposed list of Wikipedia 0.7 articles you mentioned the article stats for Madeline L'Engle. Is it possible to access this information for every article? Aurum ore (talk) 23:50, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, there is a list of our articles here — be warned though, it's quite large. I don't think that it includes all of our articles, as it says there are only 1726 of them, and according to our statistics box we have over 3000 tagged articles, so I think it only includes those that have been assessed... (If you're looking for the stats for an article from another WikiProject, I think you'll have to find that project's listing on this page and click on the link next to it that says "all articles".) -- KittyRainbow (talk) 00:43, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- Alright thanks, I was just trying to figure out if there was some trick of the trade I was missing that let you see those kind of details about an article. Aurum ore (talk) 02:05, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
hey
[edit]thanks for pointing me to WP:NOEFFORT, i do agree it makes a lot of sense. but my point would be that it is only a wikipedia essay, the opinion of some editors, whereas the policy on verifiability can be summarised in this quote from jimmy wales:
I can NOT emphasize this enough. There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative 'I heard it somewhere' pseudo information is to be tagged with a 'needs a cite' tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, unless it can be sourced. This is true of all information, but it is particularly true of negative information about living persons.
reliable sources are defined as being needing to be secondary as far as i'm aware. xxx Jessi1989 (talk) 19:45, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- I was using WP:NOEFFORT in that particular case to illustrate that, sources having been provided in the AfD discussion, they did not need to be added to the article before it could be closed as keep. The existence of sources means that the material can, technically, be verified; yes, they should be added to the article, but they don't need to already be in the article at the time that the AfD is closed. (Also, I think that that quote is not necessarily referring to all information — it does specify "random speculative 'I heard it somewhere' pseudo information" after all — and WP:V itself only says that "material challenged or likely to be challenged" needs to be cited. If you look at Mary Shelley, for example, a Featured Article, not every single sentence or statement is cited.)
- In general, reliable sources should be secondary, but as WP:RS points out: "Primary sources ... may be allowable, but should be restricted to purely descriptive explanations of the subject or its core concepts." So they are allowable in some cases. For example, in a biography, it would probably be okay to use a primary source (such as their official website) for which secondary school they attended. But we would need secondary sources to cite material about their notability, importance, impact, etc. So most of the time, we require secondary sources, but primary sources are not completely banned. -- KittyRainbow (talk) 22:44, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Wikipedia 0.7 Table
[edit]Hey, would you mind if I edited the indredibly useful table you posted at the talk page to include another column? We still have almost three weeks until the deadline and I'm hoping that the recent roll call will spur members to take a look at the talk page and hopefully "sign up" to improve an article (no matter how small their improvement might be). I've also started a discussion on nominating further articles (L'Engle, etc.) for inclusion in Wikipedia 0.7. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aurum ore (talk • contribs) 19:03, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Children's Literature Roll Call
[edit]Maria V. Snyder
[edit]Hi there! I notice that the page you created for Maria V. Snyder is in need of work. It was flagged as an "unreferenced BLP". I've added one reference, the author's website, but this is nothing like enough. The article really needs expansion and some reliable third party references, otherwise I think it might be a candidate for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
