Cat-a-lot update request
[edit]Could you update Cat-a-Lot from [1]? The change puts the edit summary field inline. Doesn't take up any more space and just makes more sense to me. It also allows the edit summary field to be altered by other gadgets for automatic improvements. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 14:42, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I'm not very well-versed in Javascript and don't know this script well either; I don't think I'll have the time to read through it to figure out what it does. I can see from the diff that it is a code logic change and not merely a dialog change, and I'm uncomfortable putting in a code change that I cannot independently verify the correctness of. Could you ask one of the authors of the script to review? -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 03:26, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
- Perhelion hasn't edited since 2019, User:Rillke made only a handful of edits this year, same for User:DieBuche and Magnus Manske is famous for never responding to anything. Maybe User:Enterprisey? diff here It just replaces the <label> and <input type="checkbox"> elements with an <input type="text">. Instead of checking whether or not the checkbox is checked, it checks if the input text field is empty. And instead of getting the summary from a window.prompt if the checkbox is checked, it just uses the summary from the input text field. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 00:11, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

- @Alexis Jazz: I have just tested it and, to the best of my knowledge, everything seems fine. Unfortunately, I'm not an interface admin, so my 2-cent approval doesn't really mean anything. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 15:47, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh, I know, but at least it's an independent set of eyes. If that's not enough I'll have to ask on VPT I guess, but maybe it's enough. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 15:49, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- OK looks reasonable, I've made the change. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 19:02, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- I heard there's an issue. I can't seem to reproduce it on my phone, maybe it's specific to some browser/virtual keyboard/whatever. User:XRay, can you test the version at [2]? I just set the tabindex for the summary field to -1 so your browser shouldn't consider the field for tabbing anymore. Made a few other tweaks as well.
Update instructions if this version works: update cat-a-lot from [3], update restore-a-lot from [4], remove "|Cat-a-lot.css" for both gadgets from MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition, delete MediaWiki:Gadget-Cat-a-lot.css as it'll be unused. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 14:56, 17 May 2022 (UTC)- A quick look at the Beta-Wiki: It looks good. Cat-a-lot works as expected. --XRay (talk) 15:08, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

1Veertje, User:MdsShakil, does [5] work for you? — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 08:19, 29 May 2022 (UTC)- @Alexis Jazz Gadgets said that the editing is taking place, but in reality it has not happened. I tested on beta commons —MdsShakil (talk) 08:44, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
- MdsShakil, that's because the "Cat-a-lot" tag didn't exist on betacommons which causes the API to throw an error. (and because Cat-a-lot is too lazy to actually read the API response, doing something about that is on my todo list.. but not very high on the list) I've created the tag so it's fully functional now, but beware that betacommons requires a different account and cat-a-lot doesn't warn about logged-out editing. The only question was if the interface works though as the internals weren't changed. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 09:22, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
- It says that it's editing. Don't see categories being added. 1Veertje (talk) 10:53, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
- Are you logged in on beta cluster? Trying to edit a protected page? 1Veertje, MdsShakil, XRay, add
mw.loader.load('//commons.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-Cat-a-lot.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');
to your c:Special:MyPage/common.js and disable the gadget in your preferences. If that doesn't work I'll investigate, but it'll work. When the gadget is updated you can switch back to that. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 02:59, 30 May 2022 (UTC)- yes that works 1Veertje (talk) 12:22, 30 May 2022 (UTC)

Orpheus in the Underworld is a comic opera composed by Jacques Offenbach with a French-language libretto by Hector Crémieux and Ludovic Halévy. It was first performed as a two-act opéra bouffon at the Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens, Paris, in 1858, and was extensively revised and expanded in a four-act opéra féerie version, presented at the Théâtre de la Gaîté in 1874. The plot is a lampoon of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in Greek mythology. In this version, Orpheus is not the son of Apollo but a rustic violin teacher. He is glad to be rid of his wife Eurydice when she is abducted by Pluto, the god of the underworld. Orpheus has to be bullied by Public Opinion into trying to rescue Eurydice. The reprehensible conduct of the gods of Olympus in the opera was widely seen as a veiled satire of the court and government of French emperor Napoleon III. This photograph depicts Jeanne Granier as Eurydice and Eugène Vauthier as Jupiter in the form of a fly as part of the 1887 Paris revival of Orpheus in the Underworld.
