Invitation to Berlin hackathon
[edit]I invite you to the yearly Berlin hackathon, 1-3 June. Registration is now open. If you need financial assistance or help with visa or hotel, then please register by May 1st and mention it in the registration form.
This is the premier event for the MediaWiki and Wikimedia technical community. We'll be hacking, designing, teaching, and socialising, primarily talking about ResourceLoader and Gadgets (extending functionality with JavaScript), the switch to Lua for templates, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Labs.
Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator. Please reply on my talk page, here or at mediawiki.org. Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation Volunteer Development Coordinator 20:21, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello
[edit]Hi King of Hears! My name is Tomica and on Wikipedia I mostly edit Rihanna-related articles. I need an admin favor from you, I hope I can't get it? I nominated List of Hot 100 number-one singles of 2011 (U.S.) for featured list, however, during the process the discussion here was opened. You can see that it was inactive for more two weeks and I can't see any concencus. Could you please close it as you did with the previous? Thank You. — Tomica (talk) 18:12, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Hey! I was closing AFDs at the same time as you and when we closed this one together, we came to drastically different conclusions. You felt consensus was to delete and I felt it was to keep. Although the !votes come out to 6/4 in favor of deletion, I felt the keep !voters supplied references and put forth an argument that this article could be improved and the topic more structured; things that could be solved by editing. There is even an editor offering to improve the article if it is kept. Could we agree on at least a no consensus and see how it develops?--v/r - TP 20:49, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- OK, sure. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 20:55, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Filter 458
[edit]Hey King of Hearts :). Would you be able to re-enable filter 458, please? I appreciate and know that shouting isn't necessarily abusive - our plan in future is to just have it tag the action, not disallow it entirely. But at the moment we're using it as a sample filter to test if the abuse filter plugin to the feedback tool is working correctly :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 17:05, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Deletion of Valentina Novakovic
[edit]Hello, I'm ScottieOrNothing and I would know why my page has been deleted. I saved it as a stub because I knew that the page was not complete, but sourced and encyclopedic. Please explain. --ScottieOrNothing (talk) 16:06, 15 April 2012 (UTC)ScottieOrNothing
- Sources that are affiliated with the subject in any way are not accepted as proof of notability, so Neighbours and Mark Morrissey & Associates won't work. A database that lists a whole bunch of people also is not sufficient proof of notability, ruling out Showcast and IMDb. Finally, interviews are not viewed very favorably on notability grounds, so Digital Spy alone is not enough. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 04:56, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, but you need to have several hundred reverts of vandalism already in order to qualify for this tool. In the meantime, you can install Twinkle, which almost has the same functionality. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 05:00, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Vandalism???
[edit]Hi, according to this weird message which just appeared when I was reading about fauna of Spain, I have vandalized the Spanish Armada page. I have never even been on this page, and I was wondering why I got this message. I have had a similar message before, which again, made no sense, as I have never been on that page either...whatever it was. And what's this about sock puppets? Explain to me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.240.116.180 (talk) 11:30, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- If you look at the date, it's a very old warning from 2007. It means that someone else vandalized Wikipedia using that IP address back in 2007, and then the same IP address got reassigned to you. You appear to be using TalkTalk, which assigns dynamic IPs to users. To avoid these messages in the future, please create an account so that you can get a username that always belongs to you. (By the way, in case you were curious, this page explains what sockpuppets are. It has nothing to do with you.) -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 22:44, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
User script list deprecation
[edit]Wikipedia's list of user scripts is in bad shape, in that it is disorganized and contains many non-working, unmaintained, or thoroughly obsolete entries. Cleanup has been on the to-do list since 2007, but little progress has been made. Instead, the whole list is now set to be deprecated on 1 May 2012, to be replaced with a new list. This draft list has been up for about a month, and in that time I've been soliciting script users and authors to come add scripts they know to be working and relevant.
If you know of scripts that you would like to survive this deprecation (and are confirmed working and relevant), you're welcome to add them to the new list. Note that the old list will be retained and linked from the main list, so there is no real deadline. Thanks for your help. Equazcion (talk) 00:56, 22 Apr 2012 (UTC)
