Bending the truth on Todd Manning/Victor Jr

Why are you bending the truth on wikipedia articles? You've fooled the reader into thinking Victor has been in the serial since 2003... from the real world perspective the actor auditioned and got the role of Todd. That cannot be undone, he was playing the character of Todd right up until this year.

Producers decided to change the characters backstory. That is the real world element. Viewers were only notifdied it was Victor this year, therfore that is the characters duration - when he was played as a seperate character. He was Todd before hand. However, the in universe perspective is that he was always Victor. If we all lived in Llanview, it would be fine. As it's fiction and fiction can be changed, the story element was, but the casting stats etc can not be. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?RaintheOne BAM 01:24, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Will I get a reply? RaintheOne BAM 00:27, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

I'm not fooling anyone. Victor is Victor and Todd is Todd. I've seen your point, Victor's history as Todd has been documented in the Todd article. But it doesn't change the fact that Todd (St. John) has been retconned as Victor. So he's been playing Victor since May 20, 2003. A date change doesn't fool/confuse anyone but seemingly you. If anything it's more confusing to say that Victor is a completely new character. That would be like leaving John's history as Roman in Roman's history. Can you see the flaw you just brought to light. You cannot retcon a casting, because the casting is the real world element in a character. You cannot change real world events once they have occured. He was cast to play Todd.. as was playing Todd right up until producers decided to change the character into Victor. These changes took place onscreen this year.. not in all those years ago. A new reader would just assume SJ was cast as Victor in to begin with upon reading Victor's list entry... and he was not. Roman and John is a bad example. Roman's article is just confusing and is edited purely in universe - so that didn't help. So the date needs to be this year, with sourced text explaining the storyline and the changes the production/writing team made to the characters. When ever you edit a fictional character, you need to treat it as just that. Always remembering to write about them as we as outsider in the real world see into the show. Hope this helps a little.RaintheOne BAM 23:42, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
There's no flaw here. He's been playing Victor. Since May 20, 2003. You CAN retcon a casting, in fact they retconned Todd's casting. Remember, he didn't walk on canvas as Todd, he walked on as Walker. Would we still be having this problem back then too? And how do you know a reader would just assume that when you've made it PAINFULLY clear that Trevor St. John gets a place in Todd's very detailed biography, and the fact that VICTOR DOESN'T EVEN HAVE AN ARTICLE JUST A STUPID BYLINE. You are making mountains out of molehills here. KingMorpheus (talk) 23:52, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
No you cannot recon the casting, you can retcon the character. Fact is he auditioned for the role of Todd. Not a character called Victor. They changed the backstory years later. You cannot say he auditioned for the role of Victor when he didn't exist then. Casting is the audition process and anything to do with the actor. Your just upset someone who actually knows how to write about fiction is pulling you over. You've had a free run of making a fansite for this soap... now it's joining the encyclopedia club, where only true factual info goes. Flyer said you refused to grasp WP:COMMONNAME. Now you are saying you can retcon casting, a real life event. "Retroactive continuity (often shortened to retcon) is an oxymoron that refers to the alteration of previously established facts in a FICTIONAL WORK." Trevor St. J is not ficitonal, therefore his casting in the show cannot be retconned.RaintheOne BAM 01:08, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
But he DIDN'T audition for the role of Todd. So that's bullshit. I'm not upset about anything except for the fact that you're (that's right, you're Mr./Ms. I Know How To Write) getting pissy about a date. And it's not even important because (a) Victor has no article. and (b) It's not like I'm eliminating Trevor St. John's portrayal of Todd. However it doesn't dispute the fact that the character was POSING as another. He was still "Todd" you can fucking have that. But he was Victor. And I'm telling you right now, all those stupid IP address revisionist editors/your "confused readers" will do the EXACT same thing I'm doing. Stop being pissy.KingMorpheus (talk) 01:18, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
So what you are saying is St. John auditioned for Walker with no idea his character was going to be revealed as Todd two months later. Only the interview with St. John, cited in his casting section via Todd, has TSJ himself letting on he knew exactly the character he had been selected to play was. Of course it is important that the info is correct, that list is still an part of WP and each claim needs to be verified. There isn't a seperate rule for lists and articles. No need for swearing hun, let's be cool! :) Besides those IP's will come unstuck if there disruptive editing continues - because you've been here two years, it's a good incentive to try and help you brush up on the fictional/real world aspects in Soap articles. So yeah, like for my first year on here, I was like totally confused about the real world vs fiction thing.RaintheOne BAM 01:40, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Rafe Hernandez 2

Please do not change Rafe Hernandez 2 to Arnold Finnegar on the List of Days of our Lives cast members page. A consensus has already been reached on the talk page that he be referred to as Rafe Hernandez 2. Your edit was also unsourced. Thank you. Rm994 (talk) 23:22, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
