Montana

this is great!! CT pulls the same stunt with not reporting in an extremely broad definition of summer, so we already have precedent: report data when they do, mark them x when they don't. this is also very nicely presented data so it's a snap to redo it week by week, and although of course there will be occluded late reported deaths especially early on next "season", since they'll be covered by the model anyway it won't really matter. great find, thanks! Michigan

Illinois

The data from Illinois comes from NCHS (According to their website), which included the probable data not included originally, and that explains the difference between the your model and the data. hello! when i uploaded the file with the wizard, i filled out a form justifying doing so. is it possible for you or anyone to see those responses? i can go back in the wizard and try my best to recreate my original responses if not, but would i put them here, or where? regarding the tag, it seems to be marked as non-free on my uploads page, do i use the tag in the article the file is used in? if so, where? thanks! Georgia

Georgia continues to publish the weekly fatality count here. By summing weekly counts by age in the most recent report, I get 44,277. Unfortunately, I can't find the confirmed and probable counts separately, similar to the situation with Michigan. Puerto Rico's count

P.S Sorry it is sort of my part to update the total alongside when I backfilled Puerto Rico's data for the past two weeks but I don't think I have the data to compute the modelled count so I decided to leave the daily totals from 5 Aug to 18 Aug for both actual and modelled counts unchanged when they need to be recalculated.

Connecticut

Connecticut has resumed reporting. It has reported fatality data as early as the week ending 3 Aug, 2024. It is quite unusual as the previous dashboard only included data from Oct 2023. Colorado

Colorado still reports total fatalities here (15,767). I don't know why it is less than the 16,310 reported previously but comparing count for each of the 12 months it is clear that count for each month is consistently lower than previous monthly data by single digit. got a call back, the total isn't reporting from the start of the pandemic, and while the plan isn't set yet, they anticipate the starting line bumping up every year or so. not ideal, but definitely workable for our purposes. the last twelve months being slightly lower looks therefore to just be a coincidence, it's certainly more common for past values to bump up slightly, but i've seen them go down slightly often enough that that makes sense to me. they should be updating later this week, we'll see how it goes! :D Kinerd518 (talk) 13:45, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oklahoma

Oklahoma continues to report final count for 2020-2023 (16,246 and that probably wouldn't change in the future), as well as preliminary data for 2024 (383 as of today). So for today it should be 16,629.

For each link, make sure to tick the box next to entire state, and select 20 leading rankable causes of deaths 'cna'. Scroll down and click Submit Request, scroll down until you find COVID-19.

I don't know why the value for Oklahoma is more than 17k. Last epidemiology report published in May 2023 reports the data as 16,157.

Unfortunately, most of the values from May 2023 to September 2024 are lost because I can't seem to find monthly data. I didn't discover this source until May 2024 and didn't keep track of it until September 2024

thanks for finding them! :D i went back through the old data and it tallies up year by year right along, and dramatically differently: 2,489 vs. 4,838 for 2020 on wiki vs. OK2Share respectively, 9,249 vs. 7,278 for 2021, 5,007 vs. 3,413 for 2022, 840 through May 2023 vs. 717 for the whole 2023 year(!!!). i'm out of time tonight anyway, i'll look again tomorrow at it, but my feeling right now is it's very concerning for them to have cut post-2020 values so sharply and at an escalating rate. either way, it's good to have a resource in the first place, so we can test! thanks again Kinerd518 (talk) 02:02, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

i looked again, and the model says there should be 989 OK deaths in 2024, compared to their current report of 383. this continues the documented escalation of their evident underreporting, and especially since we don't have granular breakdowns to backfill, i am not going to include this source at this time. if OK ever offers a better breakdown or an explanation for the massive discrepancies, certainly i will revisit this. i also have the source saved to continue monitoring, so we can regenerate granular data by ourselves if it ever becomes credible. thanks again to @Horizon Sunset for discovering this! I suspect the discrepancy between wiki and OK2SHARE is due to data backfilling because the counts reported by Oklahoma were 2489 by the end of 2020, 11552 (increased by 9063) by the end of 2021, 15397 (increased by 3845) by the end of 2022, and 16157 (increased by 760) as of May 2023: and those counts match the counts recorded by wikipedia better, although they are still consistently lower than the counts in wikipedia, especially in 2022.

What I found out was that 2021 data matched Oklahoma's own preliminary reporting until November. The irregular update on 10 November 2021 (35 compared to 132 as reported by Oklahoma) was where wiki starts to deviate from Oklahoma's preliminary data. Your model was based on the data from 2022 to 2023, when data for Oklahoma from wiki deviated significantly from data reported by Oklahoma, which might explain why your modelled count differs significantly from the count reported by Oklahoma. I don't know why wiki's recorded values are different from Oklahoma's preliminary reports PUBLISHED AT THE TIME THE EDITS WERE MADE, and if you know who made the edits for Oklahoma after 2021 it would be nice to ask them about where they got their data from.

OK2SHARE's data are backfilled, but wiki's data aren't backfilled: this should explain why OK2SHARE's 2021 data is significantly lower Horizon Sunset (talk) 05:23, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
